From the Principal's Desk...

Fare thee well...

You may recall we had a group of Welsh principals visit our school last term...well, the time has come for me to travel over to the UK for a LEAP (Leading Educators Around the Planet) study tour in Cardiff and Swansea, Wales! I'll also be visiting Scotland and spending a few days in London.

Mrs Nancy Riley, our Assistant Principal, Curriculum and Instruction, (APCI), will be relieving for me whilst I'm on leave, from Monday until mid-week 1 next term.

Byddwch yn eich gweld (Be seeing you)!

Thanks to Arwen, we made mention in State Parliament this week!

Please see below Written Community Recognition Statements - Hansard 21 June 2023.

Ms KOBI SHETTY (Balmain)—Today I bring to the attention of the House the Balmain Public School Environmental Warriors. This wonderful sustainability group from Balmain Public School invited me to visit this week to hear more about their fantastic environmental initiatives. I was really impressed by their beautiful, recently refurbished Ms Pauline's Garden, their new veggie patches and their delicious school-grown tomatoes. The Garden is a beautiful tribute to the legacy of Dr Pauline Jensen, a former teacher at Balmain PS, who for over 10 years led the school recycling and composting programs which the Environmental Warriors continue today. Well done to all the Environmental Warriors and a special thanks to Arwen Jenkins for inviting me to her school. Thank you to Environmental Warriors teacher Felicity Bowman, Principal Maria Lambos, as well as P&C President Lauren LaChapelle and P&C Sustainability lead Trista Rose for making the visit so enjoyable.

Compass Education - our NEW communications platform!

***COMPASS IS OUR MAIN FORM OF COMMUNICATING WITH YOU***In case of urgent/important communication, notifications via the Compass app on your phone will keep you informed***

To ensure you receive all communication via Compass, please have the app downloaded on your phone, with the notifications turned ON.

Although the school pushes out notifications via the app and email, there may be times when an important message may be missed as emails may sometimes not be checked regularly.

If there were to be an emergency, (hopefully not), information would be pushed out via Compass.

The A team played a very well game but unfortunately lost 4 - 2. The player of the match was Ginger for her great goalkeeping. She saved a lot of the shots on goal.

Our game was quite exciting as there was a lot of kicking and passing. Our team was quite good this week and we ended up winning 5-1! The player of the match was Oscar L because he contributed to 2 of the goals and showed good teamwork by passing to other players and being an all-round good player.

Balmain B

Balmain B v Rozelle D 22-1

we won 22-1. I think it was a pretty good game. it was a bit easy because they were a d team though. I think the MVP was Remi because she caught the ball almost every time, both the rebounds and passes and did a great job overall. I think the MIP was Zara because these past few games she's been trying her very best when defending and passing to others and shes a really good goal defence

Natasha G

Balmain C

Balmain C v Annandale C 2-12

We lost 12 - 2 but everyone in our team played incredibly and had a lot of fun. It was a great competitive game. Our MVP this week was Julia because she played amazingly in a position she didn't want to play. She also cheered the team when we were down and celebrated with us when we were up. Our MIP this week goes to Elise because she was trying her best in all situations.

SPOTLIGHT ON...

1/2 PAPARDELLE!!!!!

I/2P have been learning about number patterns this week and writing persuasive texts. Everyone has made amazing progress practising using their magic 200 words as we write letters to Mrs Lambos!

1/2P have also been loving having the doors open, so we can have more room to investigate in our spacious new open classroom with our buddy class 1/2 N. We also love doing the Friday raffle with 1/2N like we used to with 1/2J last year!

We have so much to look forward to in the next week, with our Excursion on Friday and our Class party on Monday 26th! What an action-packed term!
