June 2025, Term 2 Week 8

A Message from the Principal

As we near the end of Term 2, I want to take this opportunity to reflect on the positive progress we've seen across the school and update you on some key areas of focus as we move into the final weeks of term and begin preparations for Semester Two.

Our Sounds Write program continues to be delivered in all Kindergarten to Year 3 classrooms with excellence. The commitment from our teachers to provide explicit, evidence-based literacy instruction is outstanding. The engagement from our students is something I am very proud of—they are enthusiastic, focused, and making excellent progress. The way our youngest learners are developing foundational literacy skills is setting them up for long-term success. I commend our K-3 teaching team for their dedication and skill in delivering such a high-impact program.

We continue to maintain a strong focus on student engagement, respectful communication, and high expectations across all year levels. I regularly speak with students about their roles in creating a positive and inclusive school culture. Respectful dialogue, kindness, and pride in behaviour are expected at all times. These values help create a school where everyone feels safe and supported.

Our uniform push has been extremely successful, and I sincerely thank all students and families for your continued support. It has been fantastic to see our students proudly wearing our maroon and yellow colours. Wearing the uniform not only reflects pride in our school, but also creates a strong sense of unity and identity. When all of us, students and staff alike, present ourselves with pride, it reinforces our school-wide commitment to excellence.

We are excited about our upcoming Great Aussie Bush Camp, and preparations are well underway. A big thank you to Mrs Bull, who is working hard to ensure everything is ready for what will be an exciting and memorable experience for our students. For families of students attending, please continue to check updates via Audiri and our school Facebook page for important information and reminders as we get closer to the camp date. We want everyone to feel informed and prepared.

As part of our commitment to student leadership and responsibility, we will continue our focused meetings with both 5/6 classes in Weeks 9 and 10. These sessions are designed to reinforce the expectations we hold for our senior students as leaders and role models within our school. Year 5 and 6 students play a crucial role in shaping our culture and setting the standard for others to follow, and I look forward to continuing these important conversations.

A special thank you to all students who have been earning ‘Spotted’ tokens throughout the past fortnight. These tokens represent students being recognised for making great choices and showing our school values. At this stage, Pyjama Day seems to be leading as the preferred reward for the end of term, and we’ll be confirming the final reward day soon. It's always exciting to see students actively working towards shared goals and celebrating together.

Finally, I want to thank our entire school community for your continued support. Positive, respectful communication remains a key focus. I encourage families to maintain open communication with staff and approach our office staff respectfully should you require assistance. Appointments can always be made, and we are here to support you and your child in every way we can.

I’m proud of the continued commitment and spirit across our school. Let’s finish Term 2 strong and keep the momentum going as we head into a successful Semester Two.

Regards

David Hopson

Contacting the Principal, Executive, Teaching and Administrative Staff

At Plattsburg Public School, we are continually working towards positive change for our students, staff, and families. Conversations around high expectations and excellence are a consistent part of the culture we are building together.

We kindly remind all members of our community that when seeking to speak with a staff member, including the leadership team, this must be done through the school office and in a respectful manner. Our administrative staff are here to help, and we ask that all interactions reflect the respectful and supportive values we promote within our school.

Decisions are made with the best interests of our students in mind, and we acknowledge that further discussion may sometimes be required. If so, please respectfully contact the office to arrange an appointment.

Thank you for your continued support.
