Across the Line !

Hi all,

Well we made it to the end and what a fantastic year it has been !

It has been action packed with fantastic camps and excursions, visitors teaching us new things, special events such as Reconciliation Week, Book week, Walk A Mile, SAPSASA, colour run and so much more ! Staff have been coming and going and of course there has been heaps of high-quality teaching and learning.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of the staff of Nuriootpa Primary School for their tireless hard work, enthusiasm and passion for the school and your children. Some days I am just in awe of how far these people are willing to go to do the right thing by the students here.

I’d also like to thank you guys - our school community for your continued support and trust, it really makes a difference knowing that we are all in this together for the betterment of our children.

Finally, I’d like to thank all of our students. I’d be lying if I didn’t say we had a few wobbly days, and a few wobbly incidents (!!), but in the main we have a fantastic bunch of little humans here who are eager to learn, eager to have fun and eager to live into their values every day. All of that makes coming into work for me a pleasure.

Having said that I’m super happy that it’s the summer holidays !!! :-) I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and all the best for New Years - enjoy your time with your family and friends and we will see you in 2025!!!

From the Deputy Principal

Another school year has come and gone. The end of the school year can often be very tiring for students, (and parents and teachers) although I have been very impressed overall with the attitude of our students. They have embraced all of the end of year activities with enthusiasm and have continued to treat each other well. Our Year 6 Graduation was a highlight of the year. It is always good fun to see the students performing on stage and show pride in their achievements. Congratulations to our award winners on the night, it is great to see outstanding effort and achievement recognised. Our Year 6 cohort have been excellent leaders in our school and I wish them all the best for their future challenges.

Thank you to the staff at Nuriootpa Primary School for being great at what you do. The level of commitment and always going the extra mile for the students is a credit to you all. A big thank you also goes to our families. The level of support for our ideas and initiatives has been outstanding. The support of a school community is extremely important, and I am very grateful for the families we have at Nuriootpa PS.

I would like to thank the amazing students we have at our school for being kind, considerate and caring people. You should be very proud of your kids. My first year at the school has disappeared in the blink of an eye, but it has been a great year. I’m excited for next year and look forward to continuing to work with the great school community at Nuriootpa Primary School.

Have a great holiday break.

Farewell

Hello Everyone,

I look at the things we've accomplished this year and smile. The incredible work, the continuing improvement to school culture and climate, the foundation of our school gardens, the painting of a new school mural, the way our students work with each other so positively and the amazing growth in our school wellbeing. All of these elements funnel into an exciting story about Nuriootpa Primary School.

It's not a story I'm unfamiliar with having worked here for nearly a decade but it's one I'm pleased to report is continuing to improve. When I started at Nuriootpa Primary last decade (that makes it seem even longer ago), I was still quite a new teacher, having been transferred from Whyalla Town Primary School after four years in my position there. I was immediately struck by how close the teaching staff were and how much I could learn from them all.

Through the years I've had many roles; Middle Primary, Upper Primary Technologies, The Arts, Deputy Principal and Wellbeing Leader... sometimes it seems like I've taught everything but P.E. Throughout all those roles I've found myself working with every student in the school and closely with many of their families (that's all of you).

I greatly appreciate how kind and supportive our school community is, from the great showings at our school events (and not just the fun ones, working bees too) to the way people will volunteer at the drop of a hat.

My time at Nuriootpa has been incredibly rewarding and I will greatly miss every single student of the school, every family and every staff member.

Thanks for everything,

Mr. Michael Rostig

Parent Volunteers

If you are able, Nuriootpa Primary welcomes any parents and carers who would like  to volunteer.  Parent and Carer Volunteers are a valued support base for our school, assisting staff to provide  a range of high quality opportunities to promote the learning, wellbeing and growth of students.

Some ways you can be involved may include:

·       Listen to Students read

·       Assistance on excursions and Camps

·       Helping out at School Events (eg Christmas Concert, Sports day and SAPSASA)

If you are interested in supporting the school in either of these,  please contact the Front Office and speak to Karen Brook on 8562 1040 to book in for an information night to be held early next term.

Please note: All volunteers need  a  WWCC (Working with Children Check) and RHAN (Responding to Harm and Neglect).  The School will support interested people in gaining these.
