Reflection

Lord Jesus, you talked about the need for us to have our priorities right, and not to hoard possessions. You said that where our treasure is, there our heart and commitment will really be. Touch our hearts that we may love people and use things - and never the other way around. Inspire us to seek first your kingdom and use our talents and gifts for the benefit of others.
Amen.

Greg's Message

Dear Parents and Friends of St Anne’s

We had a wonderful Book Week celebration on Wednesday. The children looked superb in their “dress up” costumes. It was great to see the support of many families who watched us parade around the  block and stayed for our assembly. A special “well done” to our parent costume designers! After the assembly the students were involved in interesting activities based on the following books: Jigsaw a Puzzle in the Post, Bev and Kev,  Where the Lyrebird Lives, My Strange Shrinking Parents and Frank’s Red Hat. The students were divided into five multi-age groups. .It was great to see the cooperation and enthusiasm of our students. The day concluded with…….Many thanks to Lisa Redmond for coordinating the day and also plaudits to our staff for their efforts.

Science Day

Last Friday, we celebrated National Science Week with a whole-school Science Day. The day provided a fantastic opportunity for our students to immerse themselves in the world of physics and engage in hands-on experiments and activities.

The day began with an assembly led by Beth and Mikhaela from Year 5, who not only set the tone for the day but also highlighted the significance of science in our lives. They also had the chance to interview some of our students who dressed up as scientists. Following the assembly, students were divided into five multi-age groups, each named after a famous scientist. Throughout the day, these groups had the chance to explore various experiments related to the laws of motion, light, sound, and capillary action.

During recess, students participated in a science treasure hunt, and our lunch break was equally exciting, featuring a paper plane competition that took center stage. Students showcased their creativity and engineering skills as they designed planes that soared through the air, leaving behind impressive flight paths.

The day ended with a science quiz covering the topics discussed throughout the day. The Franklin group emerged as the victors, showcasing their understanding of the science we covered. Congratulations to them for their outstanding performance, with 18 out of 20 questions answered correctly!

I’d like to extend my gratitude to all the students, teachers, and staff members who contributed to making this Science Day a success. Additionally, I want to thank the parents for their support in providing lab coats for the students to wear. It is always a pleasure to witness the curiosity and excitement of our students as they delve into the realm of science.
