Term 3
What a busy Term 3 we have had at Wasleys Primary School this term! We have continued to live into our value of Opportunity by providing a range of experience for students. Most recently, we welcomed Mio Sensai to school to cook a curry with the students. You will see photographs in this edition of the newsletter.
Interviews
Thank you to families and staff for working in partnership for interviews this term. I hope you found the opportunity reflective and informative. Reports will be part of our assessment next term.
Pupil Free Day Term 4
We have a Pupil Free Day on the first Monday the 14th October. On this day, staff will be working on exploring the new SA Curriculum, reviewing aspects of our Wellbeing Plan, analysing PAT data and sharing learnings from our Portfolio Pupil Free Day this term.
Wellbeing
We have continued our tireless work in wellbeing this term, supporting students to name emotions, regulate, be ‘ready to learn’ and feel supported. Staff have been embedding trauma informed practice – calming strategies and being predictable, responsive and attuned. As part of an SRC initiative we watched ‘Migration’ and discussed the way our values connected. This also provided a focus for discussions about risk taking, challenging ourselves and showing a Growth Mindet.
150th Celebrations
We have celebration events for Wasleys Primary School 150th on Friday October 18th planned, and information has been sent home to families. From recess to lunch we will have an Olden Day Sports Day where families are welcome to come along. After a picnic lunch on the lawn, we will then officially open the Butterfly Garden with an assembly and nature play activities. Families are also welcome to attend. Following pick up at 3:30pm we will have a 150th celebration of the Old School with a tour and afternoon tea. We expect many families will attend this event. If children are attending please note that they will be Parent/Caregivers responsibility as staff will be supporting the event in different ways. Thank you for the understanding. It is going to be an exciting day!
Thank you and Happy Holidays
I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you for your involvement in the school this term. I hope you enjoy the holidays, and time to connect doing activities you enjoy with your children. We look forward to being back from Tuesday 15th October.
