Principal's Report

Hello everybody,

Welcome to week 2!

It has been such a joy to see how well everyone has settled back into the swing of school life. We have a classroom of happy Foundation students who have enjoyed a week here at MMPS that has included general classroom activities and learning as well as Japanese, Art and Digital Technologies. What an exciting start to their learning journey here at MMPS!

If you come into school on a Tuesday you will see a brand new face! We have Bree Warner joining us in the office to work alongside Amy so if you’re onsite on a Tuesday pop in and introduce yourself!

Tonight there will be a FOS Meeting being held in the staff room here at MMPS from 7:30PM. Everyone is welcome to come along! We are looking to increase the number of parents who are part of our Friends of the School team so if you’ve ever felt like this is something you would want to be a part of tonight would be a great chance to come and see how it all works.

We are all very much looking forward to our Swimming Carnival this Friday. If you have not yet jumped onto QKR to provide payment and permission could you please do that as soon as possible?

Next Monday the grade 6 students will be heading off to the GRIP Leadership Summit being held in Melbourne. Students will hear from a number of experts on what leadership is and how everyone has the ability to demonstrate leadership qualities in our everyday lives.

There has been a lot of work that has been completed over the holidays and will be completed in the coming weeks. These works are done continually across the year to make sure that the school can function smoothly while also being an engaging place for children to learn. We can only complete the following tasks with a combination of external providers as well as parent volunteers. We are so grateful for all parents who have put up their hands to offer support in any way that they can. We ALWAYS welcome expertise so if you’re handy in any way shape or form please let us know and we can support you to support MMPS.

SUPPORTING OUR SCHOOL COMMUNITY

We hope this message finds you well. Tonight, at 7:30 pm in the staff room, we have a special gathering that deserves your attention – our Friends of the School (FOS) Parent Association Meeting. We extend a warm invitation to all parents, and your presence is not only welcome but highly encouraged.

FOS is the backbone of our school community, working tirelessly to support various events and activities throughout the academic year. These events play a crucial role in enhancing the overall school experience for our children and creating lasting memories.

As parents, you are an integral part of our school community, and your involvement can make a significant impact. We have exciting events lined up, and the dates are already in place. However, for these events to be successful, we need the enthusiastic participation of our school community. Your support is the key to turning these plans into reality.

The strength of our community lies in its unity, and by joining forces, we can ensure that these events are not only successful but also enjoyable for everyone involved. Whether you can spare a little time or have a specific talent to share, every contribution is valuable and appreciated.

Your input and ideas are crucial to making these events memorable for our children. By attending the FOS Parent Association Meeting tonight, you'll have the opportunity to learn more about the upcoming events, the roles you can play, and how your unique skills can contribute to the success of each occasion.

Let's come together and make a positive impact on our school community. Your attendance and support tonight will set the stage for a fantastic year filled with fun and enriching experiences for our children.

We look forward to seeing you at 7:30 pm in the staff room.

Together, let's make a difference!

Welcome New Families! 🌟

I’m our Wellbeing and Inclusion Coordinator and am on-site every Monday and Thursday.

Role Overview:

As the Wellbeing and Inclusion Coordinator, my primary goal is to foster a sense of belonging and promote success for all students. Pop Culture Parenting – Ep 077 10 Things I hate about you & school success

In our first episode back for the year we discuss how we can support the children in our lives to succeed at school, especially in their social and emotional development. From their first days in childcare to those big school transitions there is so much we can do to set them up or help them get back on track if things have become tough. We hope you enjoy and can't wait to hear your questions!

This week in Digi Tech

Hippos in Tutus

Well, I really just wanted Amy to have to make a post with that title, but bear with me here.

Around this time last year, I did a lesson with the senior students on A.I and image generation. We experimented with the tech, and it was fun, but one thing I said then is that in one year's time, it will be leaps and bounds better.

Well, it's been a year, and I get to say to an 11 year old that "See, I was right!" (and as I am sure every parent out here knows, that is a very satisfying thing to do)

This week, we went back to the tech (we are now using DALL.e 3) and the students put in a bunch of (rather random) descriptions and came up with some amazing results which you can see below.

But don't worry, we did also talk about the legal and moral issues that are arising from using such powerful creative tools (such as what is happening with Taylor Swift these past few weeks) and also will be using the tech to good use - next week the students are going to be using it to make a series of 'motivational' posters to put around our classrooms.

The text the students used for the images to be created below are:

1 - A golden retriever puppy driving a Ford Mustang sports car in a photo real style

2 - A crocodile is the style of a Pokemon

3 - A photo of a whale with a hat and a t-shirt and sunglasses jumping out an ocean of lava (this is my favorite as you can see it took the student's words literally - there is a 'photo' of a whale and that photo has a hat on it!)

4 - A purple kitten wearing a tuxedo and sunglasses with fire on them at a bar with a drink and a donkey in a photo real style

5 - A hippopotamus wearing a fur coat and ballerina shoes with a pink tutu singing in the shower in a cartoon style

Smile Patrol School Dental Visiting SOON!
