Farewell Brian

Our beloved groundsman, Brian Tomlinson, has decided that  it is time to hang up his gardening gloves and retire. Brian has carefully tended our gardens and kept our school well maintained for the past 14 years. Visitors to our school always comment on how beautiful our school grounds are. Brian is also extremely patient and has built a good relationship with students: a loyal crew of them can be seen hanging around his shed every Friday. We will all miss Brian and his ‘quiet achiever’ presence every week and wish him all the best in his retirement.

Acquaintance Night

We had a very successful Acquaintance Night this year, with 20 families attending (this represents 38% of our school community). Parents attended the introductory session providing information about the school priorities for this year, as well as visiting classrooms and hearing from the childrens’ teachers. Our Governing Council and FOG members put on a free sausage sizzle for families and had a pop-up uniform shop available. FEROS Care personnel were also on-site to answer questions that parents might have about how they can support families. This is certainly a format we will repeat next year.

Splash Day

Everyone had a great day at Kapunda pool. The perfect weather meant that many students and staff spent the day in the water. Mr Fitzpatrick also had an enthusiastic game of cricket going for most of the day and Willow had a disco happening in the paddling pool. It was also lovely to have so many parents and younger siblings join us for the day.

At the end of the day, the diving board was opened up and many kids tried to copy the bombing skills of Mr Claridge, Tanya, Willow and Mr Gliese. Pip practiced her pirate skills, making the bombing enthusiasts walk the plank and using a pool noodle as a cutlass!

We are all grateful to the organisation and preparation done by:

·         Caro – booked the pool and liaised with pool staff

·         Mari – organised buses, consent forms and first aid kits

·         Gail A – managed all the finances

·         Tam – organised all the pool games

Site Learning Plan – 2026

We have three main priority areas for our Site Learning Plan this year (see below).

This term, the teachers have been focussing on supporting children to engage with their learning through the introduction and embedding of Morning Circles. The Morning Circle provides every student with an opportunity to share something about themselves each morning, for example something they are grateful for. Alongside the Morning Circles, teachers are ensuring they implement consistent predictable routines, such as day plans, ready-to-learn check ins, purposeful breaks and learning reflections. We are also working on what-went-well at the end of each day, to encourage every student to leave each day with a positive thought in their heads.

In Literacy, teachers have been working with our Literacy Coach (Stef) to implement the department’s scope and sequence for phonics, spelling and morphology. Stef has also been working with our SSOs to teach them how to use the new Intervention package with students who need a bit of extra help. There is a lot of new learning for all of us, with new instructional routines to learn and decodable readers to embed in place of our old levelled readers. Much progress in being made and the students are also getting into the swing of the different lesson structures. We know, from the experience of our colleagues, that the transition to this scope and sequence will be worth it and of great benefit to our students.

End of Term 1

Of course, there are only 2-weeks remaining of Term 1. During this time there will be a lot of excitement as Easter Bunny visits all the children. We also have Parent-Teacher Interviews happening next week, so make sure you have booked your appointment.

If I don’t see you before the school holidays, enjoy the break with your children, and we will see you all next term.

Healthcare Plans & Medication 2026

Please update your child's healthcare plan & medication at the beginning of the school year so that your child is covered throughout the year for all activities, excursions and bi-annual camp.

Doing this can make it more convenient for parents, will ensure that your child is supported appropriately for their medical condition and will reduce administration time for staff.

It is recommended that healthcare plans and medication agreement forms be reviewed every 12 months.

Audiri App Issues

From time to time the Audiri App appears to give some of our school community issues accessing forms or notices.

An easy fix can be to delete the app from your phone and reinstall it.  This often seems to iron out the small "glitches"!

If a reinstall doesn't fix things, the next step is to contact the Front Office for assistance and/or report the issue.

If the issue is beyond the  technical skills of the Front Office, we can report straight to Audiri administration for their assistance as there may be a system issue.

All communication from the school to you is via the Audiri App, apart from class specific information from teachers (Class Dojo).  This includes the newsletter, reminders of events or for forms and also to notify parents of an emergency, so it is important that all caregivers have access to the app and our lines of communication are open at all times.

Please check your emails as well as most notices also go out via email, the same time as a posting on the mobile app.

If you have any questions or are in need of assistance, pop in to the office or give us a call on 85628011.  We are here to help.
