TERM 4, WEEK 1 2023

LEADERSHIP CORNER

WELCOME BACK - TERM 4

We have a fun and busy term ahead with lots to look forward to.

OPEN EVENING

Our annual Open Evening is back on Monday 30th October. All members of the community are invited to attend and explore our transformed learning spaces and see ‘learning is fun’ in action across the school. See the attached flyer for further information.

Children will bring home a passport to ‘learning fun’ on the day to help you navigate the school.

At 6.00pm we ask all visitors to assemble in our Ngunyawayingka Courtyard as Petiola Wilson does a Welcome to Country and Smoking ceremony. Following this our school choirs perform and then classrooms will be opened from 6.30-7.30.

Our whole-school Art exhibition will be open in the gym from 5.30-6.00 and 6.30-8.00. Your child's artwork will be available to purchase on the night for 1 x $10, 2 x $15 & 3 x $20.  It will be a wonderful night that showcases ‘Learning is Fun’, and we hope to see all families.

CONNECTED CURRICULUM - ‘From Little Things Big Things Grow’

Our whole school connected curriculum is focused on acts of kindness and the theme ‘From Little Things Big Things Grow’.. Teachers will soon be sending their Term 4 overview with key year level dates and we look forward to welcoming our community to many exciting events this term. Our first whole-school assembly is this Friday at 9.10am. Family members are welcome to pop in to the gym.

GRADUATION 2023

It is the final term of primary schooling for our large group of year 6s and what a journey it has been. Families of year 6 students should  be sure to put Thursday 7th December into your calendars.

WORLD TEACHERS' DAY

The demands on our teachers are ever increasing and now, more than ever, we need to show them how much we appreciate what they do. Simple ways to show your appreciation can really make it all worthwhile to a teacher. A simple thank you, message of gratitude or a homemade card can make teachers feel special on World Teachers’ Day Friday October 27th.

Teachers, hats off to you!

OPEN NIGHT FLYER

LEARNING IS FUN - OPEN NIGHT

OPEN NIGHT - ART SHOW INFO

WHOLE SCHOOL ART SHOW INFORMATION

A whole school Art Show will be held in the school gym in conjunction with the Open Night on Monday 30th October, with view times from 5.30 - 6.00pm and 6.30 - 8.00pm.

A piece of art from every student will be framed and on display for our community to enjoy the amazing work being created in the Visual Arts Specialist program. As well as all of the individual framed art, there will be sculptures, sewing projects and some collaborative pieces of work to enjoy. Our Year 5 & 6 SALA group of students will also have their incredible art pieces they’ve been working on over the last 2 terms on show.

Every student from R-6 have produced truly outstanding pieces of art and they have such pride in what they’ve created! The works of art will be available for purchase on the night by families for $10 each, 2 for $15 and 3 for $20.

Monies raised from the Art Show will go back in to the Visual Art program to purchase items not usually within the consumable art budget. Screen printing equipment, a printing press and mobile shelf unit for sculptures are some of the items on the wish list. This is a fabulous, fun way to raise money for the Art program, all the while celebrating student’s passion and love of all things Art!

Assistance is also required in the preparation and setting up of the event. Assistance in preparing the framed artwork is appreciated any time in the first couple of weeks of Term 4. Help is also required to set up the event on Sunday 29th October and Monday 30th October during school hours. If you are able to assist in any capacity for any amount of time, please contact me via email, Seesaw or in person in the Octopus Unit Art room.

Thank you!
