Make My Day!

One of the best parts of my day is when students visit my office to show me their work. Bodhi and Noah from 4M came to share how they solved Mathematics problems in class. They explained their thinking and the strategies they used to solve the problem. I told them it must have made their brains sweaty because they worked so hard! I am proud of Bodhi and Noah for trying their best. Well done!

Tournament of Minds

On Sunday 13 September, our Tournament of the Minds team proudly participated in this year's NSW State Final. We greatly appreciate the effort, creativity, and teamwork demonstrated by our students throughout the competition. I would also like to extend a huge thank you to the parents who travelled to support our team and helped foster such a positive atmosphere during the event. A special thanks goes to Mrs Chensee for the tremendous effort and hard work she dedicated to preparing the team for this competition, and to Mrs Phillipa Campbell for her generous volunteer work as a facilitator—your commitment is deeply appreciated.

Colour Run

The P & C's Colour Run fundraiser was a vibrant and joyful event held last Friday. We extend a huge thank you to our P & C President, Stephanie Davies, for her dedication and hard work in making the day such a success. It was heartwarming to see so many parents and carers on site supporting the fundraiser, and to our students who thoroughly enjoyed the event. A special thanks also goes to the NSW Fire and Rescue Team for attending with their fire truck, adding an extra element of excitement and making the day even more memorable for everyone involved.

As we finish Term 3, we invite all families to come to our Celebration Assembly this Thursday. We hope you have a wonderful holiday, and we look forward to seeing everyone back for Term 4.

Kind regards,

Lisa Dallaway

Science & Engineering Challenge

Our students proudly represented our school at the Newcastle Science and Engineering Challenge Discovery Day at Glendale Technology High School.

They enthusiastically participated in a range of engaging, hands-on STEM activities, working collaboratively in teams to share ideas, think creatively and solve problems.

Throughout the day, our students demonstrated excellent teamwork, communication and perseverance. They supported one another, listened to different ideas and worked together to overcome challenges.

We were extremely proud of the way they represented our school and displayed such positive attitudes towards learning and collaboration.

Galgabba Spelling Bee

Congratulations to our Stage 2 representatives, Oscar and Archer, and our Stage 3 representative, Lilah, who participated in the Galgabba Spelling Bee on Tuesday.

We are incredibly proud of all three students for representing our school with confidence and enthusiasm.

A special congratulations to Lilah, who won the Stage 3 competition. What an outstanding achievement!

Grow Your Mind

Another strength you can grow is HELPFULNESS.

Being helpful means to think of ways we can be of benefit in the classroom, on the playground or at home.

When we show HELPFULNESS we use our SENSITIVE OCTOPUS and WISE OWL. This strength is important for our mental health because we feel rewarded and happy when we help someone.

You can display HELPFULNESS by:

  • looking for opportunities to be useful; for example holding the door open for someone if they are carrying something
  • not waiting to be asked to help; such as lending a pencil to a friend if they have forgotten theirs

Set yourself a ‘Be of Benefit’ challenge today!

P&C News

📣 WE REALLY DO NEED YOU! 💙💛

Our Caves Beach Public School P&C is run by parents and carers who volunteer their time to help make our school community the best it can be. From fundraising and school events to purchasing equipment, resources and those little extras for our kids — our P&C makes a real difference. 🫶

As we head towards the end of the year, all P&C positions will need to be filled for 2027, including:

💙 President 💛 Vice President 1 💙 Vice President 2 💛 Treasurer 💙 Secretary 💛 General Committee Members

⚠️ Why does this matter?

If these positions aren't filled, the P&C will be unable to continue and, unfortunately, that means no P&C-run events in 2027.

That puts some of our much-loved events at risk, including our Mother’s Day Stall & Breakfast, Father’s Day Stall & Breakfast, Colour Fun Run, Discos, Easter and Christmas raffles and other fundraising and community events. 🎁🌈🪩

And it’s about so much more than events! Over the years, P&C fundraising and support has helped provide things such as air conditioning, books and learning resources, Playground equipment contributions, sporting equipment and uniforms, Healthy Harold, Drum Corps, contributions towards students attending state-level events, and more. 💙

You don't need special experience to get involved. Whether you can take on a position, join as a general committee member, help at events or simply contribute when you can — small contributions really do make a big difference.

We would LOVE to see some new faces get involved and help keep our P&C going strong for our kids and our school. 💛
