The Sacrament of Confirmation is a special sacrament for those who are in the Catholic faith, where the individuals declare their choice to be children of God.
When we are baptised as infants, our parents or godparents make that decision for us When we are baptised as babies, our parents or godparents make that decision for us. Baptism gives us the graces we need from God to grow in holiness throughout our lives. However, Confirmation completes and enhances those graces we received at baptism. It is a sacrament that strengthens the gifts and graces given to us by Christ.
Confirmation is important because it allows the person receiving it to affirm their desire to grow in the Catholic faith based on their own decision, not just because our parents or guardians wanted it.
The sacrament originated during Pentecost when the Holy Spirit descended on the Apostles, give them the courage to spread God’s word to everyone.
When students are confirmed in the Catholic faith, they receive an anointing oil called Chrism in the shape of a cross on their forehead from a bishop. During the ceremony, the words "Be sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit" are spoken. Confirmation helps us make the Catholic faith our own and strengthens our relationship with God, guiding us on our path to heaven.
On the 21st of July, the following students will be receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation.
May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the Holy Spirit be with the following students; Adrian Vescio, Aliz Elera-Ochoa, Christopher Gravina, Dante Serra, Gabrielle Lecuru, Harrison Goss, Harrison Senior, Isabelle Mirabile, Luke Rajamanthri, Mariella Conci, Sebastian Almeida, Sienna Scarola, Valentina Minutolo & Xander Storti.
