Curriculum Policy Monitoring

Mrs Behl-Shanks, Mrs Milligan and Ms Stehr have been preparing for Curriculum Policy Monitoring for Stage 3. Today we were teamed up with Shoalhaven Heads Public School, NESA, executive staff and the Relieving Director to strengthen how we monitor and support curriculum delivery in both our schools. Curriculum policy monitoring is the process of regularly reviewing how teaching and learning programs align with the NSW Department of Education’s curriculum standards.

P&C Meeting

Our next P&C Meeting is at Club Jamberoo on 11th September at 7pm. We hope to see you then.

Happy Father's Day for Sunday

We would like to wish all the dads, grandads and father figures in our school community a very Happy Father’s Day for this Sunday. Thank you for the love, guidance and support you give to our Jamberoo children each and every day. We hope you enjoy a special day with your families.

Father's Day Stall

The P&C had their Father's Day Stall yesterday with many students grabbing a special gift for a loved one. There are around 25 gifts left over.

If your child would like to buy a gift or an additional gift, please pay in cash ($10) or online ($10) at the JPS P&C website.

Gifts are available for pick up tomorrow afternoon at 3pm from the Uniform Shop.

A big thank you to the amazing P&C for their organisation of the stall.

Farewell to Wade

We would like to acknowledge the incredible contribution of Wade, our wellbeing (WHIN) nurse, who has supported schools across the Kiama Community of Schools. Wade has been outstanding in his role, offering unwavering support to countless families in our school community.

His calm, compassionate and professional manner has had a profound and lasting impact on students, staff and families alike, and his presence will be deeply missed. Wade’s departure is without doubt a significant loss for us all within the Kiama Community of Schools.

On behalf of Jamberoo Public School, we thank Wade sincerely for his care, commitment, and guidance, and wish him every success in his exciting new chapter ahead. Rebecca will be filling in for Wade and I look forward to meeting her in the near future.

SRC Fundraiser

The SRC, along with myself, will be distributing the food for Monday’s SRC Fundraiser. We can’t wait to share with you how much we’ve raised and let you know what exciting initiatives the money will go towards! Thank you to the 110 students who ordered a meal deal.

Good Luck, Gus!

We wish Gus the very best as he represents Jamberoo Public School at the Regional Athletics Carnival, competing against over 1,000 students at Beaton Park. Jump high, Gus and aim for the clouds. Good luck!

Kind regards,

Katie Louttit

Science Week

We’d like to give a huge thank you to Melanie, Ben’s mum, for reaching out and offering to visit our school on Friday of Week 5 to teach our K–6 students about volcanoes in space. The hands-on experiment was a blast, and the students erupted with excitement during her fun and engaging lesson! Science Week was truly out of this world thanks to her generosity and enthusiasm.

Class Spotlight

Wombarra

Kindergarten have had a very busy and exciting few weeks at school!

We loved celebrating Book Week. The children enjoyed dressing up as their favourite book characters, joining in the school parade and sharing stories together. It was wonderful to see the excitement as they recognised characters from books we have read in class. They also took part in fun literacy activities that encouraged their love of reading and storytelling.

Grandparents Day was another special event for Kindergarten. The children prepared by making beautiful messages and drawing pictures of their grandparents. They also created photo frames with their own picture inside as a gift to share with their grandparents. On the day, we welcomed many proud grandparents into our classrooms to see the children’s work and join in activities. A big thank you to our parents for organising a delicious morning tea for the grandparents, it made the day even more memorable and special for everyone.

In English, we are learning how to join ideas together by writing compound sentences. The students are practising using words like and and but to make their writing longer and more interesting. In mathematics, we have been exploring length, weight, and area through hands-on activities where we compare, measure and describe objects around us.

Our Dharawal language group has also been a highlight. Over the past two weeks, we have been learning the names of ocean animals in Dharawal. The children particularly enjoyed playing “i-spy” games using the Dharawal language, which helped them practise the new words in a fun and active way.

Nanga Mai

It’s been a wonderful couple of weeks in our class! The Book Parade was such a colourful and exciting event – everyone looked fantastic in their costumes, and we loved celebrating our love of reading together. A big thank you to Mrs O’Leary for taking such good care of Nanga Mai during the celebrations.

We were also very lucky to welcome our grandparents into our classroom. It was so special to share our learning space with them, and we loved singing for them to say thank you.

To finish the week, we spent some time out in nature after sport on Friday. Using natural materials, we created our own artworks – it was a chance to be creative, work together, and enjoy the outdoors. The students had lots of fun exploring and making their art pieces.

This week, we have begun learning how to use modal verbs to strengthen our arguments in persuasive writing. In maths, we have started looking at area and perimeter, which has been a great way to connect our measuring skills to real-world problems.

We also had a fantastic visit from Mr John Downes, who spoke to Year 2 about history. He shared stories about his childhood and how Jamberoo Public School has changed over time. Students have been encouraged to ask their parents and grandparents about how things have changed since their childhood. A big thank you to Mrs Dowling for organising this special visit.

Premier's Reading Challenge

The Premier’s Reading Challenge (PRC) is still open for all students from Kindergarten to Year 10. The challenge encourages students to read widely and develop a love of books.

Students in Kindergarten to Year 2 are asked to read 30 books (20 from the PRC list and 10 of their own choice). Students in Years 3 to 6 are asked to read 20 books (10 from the PRC list and 10 of their own choice). Younger students can have books read to them, while older students read independently.

The challenge closes for students on Friday 19 September 2025, with all reading records to be entered online by this date. More information, including booklists, is available on the PRC website: https://online.education.nsw.gov.au/prc

Let’s get reading!

Upcoming P&C Barbecues – Volunteers Needed!

We have two exciting P&C barbecues coming up – always a rewarding way to support our school while raising important funds for our students.

Upcoming BBQs:

  • Kiama By-Election BBQ – Saturday 13 September at Jamberoo Public School

  • Bunnings BBQ – Saturday 26 October at Albion Park Bunnings

To make these events a success, we need volunteers to help run the BBQs in 2-hour shifts. They’re always fun days, with plenty of laughs and a great chance to meet other families while giving back to the school.

If you can’t make it on the day, you can still support us by donating soft drinks for sale – every contribution helps!
