Principal's Report

Welcome back everyone!

I hope you all got to have a restful Easter break and are ready to make the most of a busy and exciting term two!

We will be having our School Photos tomorrow, Wednesday 17th of April. Students are to be in full school uniform and be here at school on time as all class and individual photos will be taken in the morning before recess. Information about ordering photos is listed below.

We wish our District Cross Country competitors all the best for this coming Friday! Students who made it through to district cross country will be heading down to Dixon Field in Gisborne on Friday to compete against students from local schools. If you have not yet consented for your child to participate, could you please do so via QRK as soon as possible?

Next week sees our intensive swimming program begin with a weeklong series of lessons down at the Gisborne Aquatic Centre. Students will be participating in a lesson each day; they will be travelling down to the pool by bus. The students will be going to the pool in three groups and will be having their lessons at the following times:

·         Students from grades 3 and 4: lesson begins at 12:15PM (runs for 45 minutes)

·         Students from grades 1 and 2: Lesson begins at 1:00PM (runs for 45 minutes)

·         Students from Foundation and grades 5 and 6: Lesson begins at 1:45PM (runs for 45 minutes)

Students will need to wear their bathers under their uniform each morning and bring with them a bag containing a towel, goggles a swimming cap as well as underpants to wear after the lessons.

If you have not yet returned the swimming ability form sent home last term, could you please fill it in a return it to the Gisborne Aquatic Centre before next week? Consent and payment are also required and can be provided via QKR. If you have any questions, please get touch base with your child’s teacher or the front office.

It was great to hear a large amount of super positive feedback regarding the SchoolsOUT! Holiday program that ran at MMPS over the holidays. I was in at school and was able to see a really vibrant and rich program running for the students who were in for that day. The SchoolsOUT holiday program is a great way for students to have a fun and exciting day, full of activities such as arts and crafts as well as excursions to the movies and such. It is also a great way for students to have playdates in a safe and exciting environment.

Looking forward to a huge Term Two! If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to get in touch,

Joe.

SCHOOL'S OUT!
