Dear Drummoyne PS Community,
World Teachers’ Day
We celebrated World Teachers’ Day Thursday this week (a day early, since our Kindy team out on an excursion!) with a delicious lunch provided by our P&C. It was a great opportunity for staff to pause, share a meal together and reflect on the important work we do as public educators - not just in teaching knowledge and skills, but in building strong, caring relationships with our students every day. A huge thank you to our P&C for helping make the day special - our teachers certainly enjoyed the lunch and the recognition!
Of course, you don’t have to wait until World Teachers’ Day to let our teachers know their work is appreciated. It’s always nice to receive feedback and, if you have a moment, I encourage you to reach out any time to let our teachers know how valued they are.
P&C Disco
A huge thank you to Susan Murray for coordinating last Friday’s P&C disco - her second year running the show! The feedback from staff, parents and students alike has been glowing, with lots of happy (and very energetic!) students lighting up the dance floor.
These events are such a highlight for our students and create memories that last well beyond the night itself. They simply wouldn’t happen without the time, energy and organisation of our parent and teacher volunteers. Your efforts really do bring our school community together.
Ultimate Fun with Ultimate Frisbee! Our Ultimate Frisbee program kicked off this week through the Government’s subsidised Sporting Schools initiative. At Drummoyne, we’re always looking for ways to get students trying different sports and activities, and following on from our Term 2 lacrosse program, the Ultimate Frisbee program is another great example of students discovering new skills (and hidden talents!) in sports they may not have tried before. Over the next three weeks, students will be learning new skills, teamwork and strategy, and having a good time doing it! Programs like this are a great way to broaden our students’ experiences and get everyone moving and having fun together.
Planning Ahead for 2026Planning for 2026 is already well underway and it’s important that we have the most accurate picture possible of our enrolments for next year. If your family’s plans have changed or you’re aware of any moves on the horizon, please let us know - it really helps us plan our classes and staffing with confidence.
As we look ahead, we’re always keen to continue growing our fabulous school community here at Drummoyne and we know that parent word of mouth is one of the best ways to promote our school. If you have friends, family or neighbours with school-aged children, please tell them about our wonderful school - and send them my way for a tour!
Regards,
John Nguyen
