Principal's Message - Kim Fraser

What a fantastic few weeks it has been! We have so much to celebrate,

Last night's Big Music Night was nothing short of amazing! We were once again blown away by the incredible musical talent of our students. A massive thank you to the supercharged and musically gifted Mr. Howesmith for making this wonderful opportunity possible for our students. Your passion and dedication are truly inspiring! We also want to express our deepest gratitude to the IMSS music specialists. The incredible talent and skills you share with your students shone brightly throughout the night. Your hard work and expertise truly made the performance something special. And, of course, a very big thank you to all the staff who volunteered backstage, wrangling super excited students and helping things run smoothly. We couldn’t have done it without you!

What an unforgettable performance – a night to remember!

A huge congratulations to Mr. Howesmith and the students who performed at the Wembley Downs Community Fair. Their talent, energy, and dedication were on full display, and it was wonderful to see them represent our school so positively in the community.

A special shout-out to Mrs. Cockerill and her Art Team, who collaborated on the stunning mural as part of the fair. The mural has added a burst of colour and creativity to our school, and we are so proud of the effort and imagination that went into this project.

Well done to Mr. Marshall and the Tennis Team for their participation in the Interschool Tennis Competition. The students showed great sportsmanship and skill. A big thank you to the parents who volunteered their time to support the team – we truly appreciate your help in making this event possible.

A big round of applause to Mr. Johnson and the Years 3 and 4 students who joined in the fun at the SciTech Challenge. The event was filled with excitement, exploration, and learning, and our students represented the school with enthusiasm and curiosity.

A big congratulations to Mr. O'Mara, Mrs. Kennedy, Mr. Flemming, Mr. Marshall, Mrs. Idle, and Mr. Johnson for leading our Year 6 students on an unforgettable camp experience! The children had an absolute blast, and it was heartening to see everyone fully embrace the activities, even those that were incredibly challenging and a little scary!

I had the opportunity to join in the fun, and I was so impressed by the resilience and growth mindset our students demonstrated. They faced each challenge with determination, and we couldn’t be prouder of how they pushed themselves. By the end of the camp, the students returned to school exhausted but with bucketloads of memories, friendships, and the knowledge that with the right mindset, they can achieve anything.

Thank You, Volunteers! We are incredibly grateful for the support our school community provides. If you’ve volunteered your time or helped out in any way, we’d like to invite you to our Volunteers Morning Tea on Thursday, 21st November 10.45 – 11.15 near the staff room. It will be a chance for us to thank you personally for everything you do to support our school. Please let us know if you’d like to attend; we would love to see you there!

Crossing Warden Update

I continue to have regular discussions with the Traffic Police and also continue discussions with Christine Tonkin to find a suitable and lasting solution for the Pearson Street crossing.

Traffic Police have recently reviewed the application process for Crossing Wardens. The goal is to improve the process and ensure that wardens stay in their positions long term, helping to provide more consistent coverage at the crossing. We are hopeful that a warden will be assigned soon. Additionally, government departments continue to work on a long-term plan to ensure the crossing is safe for all students and families at all times. We will keep you updated as we move closer to a solution. While we are all frustrated with this ongoing situation, please be assured that the school and Board continue to have ongoing conversations with several parties in the effort to get an immediate solution.

If you know of anyone who is interested in becoming a warden, please pass on this link. https://www.wa.gov.au/security/law-enforcement/traffic-wardens
