We have hit the ground running this year!
Morning BBQ, Leadership Induction and Meet the Teacher
We had a brilliant turn out at the morning BBQ in Week 4. Thanks to all the staff that made this event such a success.
We were able to induct our student leadership team. We are so fortunate to have a brilliant team of young people to lead and improve our school. Their first meeting is this Thursday where we will discuss changing the school motto!
Thanks to all the parents that had time to stick around for Meet the Teacher. We love sharing what we do in our classrooms each day. Remember, if you have some spare time, our classes are always looking for ways to get our families involved.
Performing Arts
Our performing arts program continues to go from strength to strength. Last week we started our choir, band and dance troupe. Due to overwhelming numbers, we have had to target our band offering at year 5 and 6.
Our tutors are going gangbusters, with our guitar children learning to play the school song to perform at assemblies.
Bryan Dale started private drama tuition on a Wednesday afternoon. This is a six week program. For more details, contact Bryan or Jade Dale.
Swimming Stars
Congrats to our team of five swimmers that went off to the North Coast Championships last week. Many swam PBs with Mia going on to represent the school at the North Coast Champs! Well done.
Social Futures and Safe on Social
In Week 4 we had social futures attend our school and run workshops with our children about resilience. Our students were incredible, engaged and learnt loads about themselves and how to support others.
Last week, Kirra from Safe on social worked with our Year 3-6 classes about being safe online. She also ran a parent session attended by almost 30 parents! See the info below about some of the things she spoke about.
P & C Meeting
We had a well-attended P & C meeting last week that saw some new exec position being taken:
President - Jade
Vice President - Jaye
Secretary - Adelle
Uniform - Lyndsey and Selen
Treasurer - Michael
Canteen Manager - Bada
It is brilliant to see this group growing and supporting each other to raise funds and float ideas about how we can make our school even better!
Wednesday Week 6 and 10 each Term
Two Wednesdays a term our class teachers will be off class to review teaching and learning, planning and preparing for the following five weeks. The first session is Wednesday this week. During this time, our children will rotate through many different staff completing music, art, sport and STEM activities.
Easter Hat Parade and ANZAC Service
Our Easter Hat Parade will be held on Thursday 28 March. Start prepping those hats so you don't get caught in a rush the day before!
Our ANZAC service is always an event not to be missed. We will welcome RSL members to our school and give thanks to those service people who have supported Australia.
School Bytes
As many of you will have read, we are trying to streamline our office procedures by using School Bytes to pay and give permission to excursions. We are aiming to move away from paper notes. Within this app, you can also log student absenteeism, pay school fees and check your child's attendance - all with the click of a button. If you are having trouble using the app or signing in, please let us know so we can follow up your concern with School Bytes.
Staffing
The back of end of this term there will be some staffing changes due to leave.
Staff Member | Replacement | Time Frame |

Ms Lou | Robyn Rowland | Week 7 |
Mrs Lyndi Hauenstein | Robyn Rowland | Week 10 and 11 |

Basketball
We have Nash from Basketball Byron Bay running sessions with each of our classes starting this week! We can't wait.
Soccer
Over the next few weeks, we will start to look at picking our soccer teams for upcoming gala days. We have a five a side competition at the end of the term where we will take teams from Years 3 & 4 and 5 & 6. Early next term we will start our PSSA soccer with our first game against Mullumbimby Public School. The PSSA team will be a competitive side where a selection process will take place.
Coffee Mornings
Our coffee mornings are running again this term. Each even week Zoe (school child pysch) and myself are out the front to chat and have a cuppa. Drop in and say g'day. We can just generally chat about life or if you have specific question regarding your child's wellbeing, we are here for that too!
