St Joseph's Catholic Primary School Wandal Newsletter

Bernadette Brennan - Principal

The Parent Engagement Sessions have been well supported to date. These conversations will continue next week during the Prep Orientation sessions and a final session will be held after the Prayer Assembly on Friday, 27 October. The sessions are an open, friendly discussion about the future possibilities for the families  and their partnership with the school. Following the completion of the sessions, all the data and suggestions will collated and available for review.

On Tuesday, 14 November we will be holding the twilight swimming carnival at the Southside pool. This is a friendly carnival commencing at 5:00 pm open for all students to participate. There is an opportunity for all students no matter their ability to participate in all four swim strokes. The 25 metre events are all swum and then the carnival moves to the 50 metre pool. The carnival finishes around 8:00 pm with the house medley relays involving some 10, 11 , and 12 year old swimmers. The P and F are holding a sausage sizzle at the pool. This is not a Flexischools event. Nomination forms are coming home next week. Please keep an eye out for these.

Next Friday, 27 October we celebrate World Teacher's Day. At Wandal we value the commitment and dedication of all staff in our school and will be celebrating this as 'World Staff Day'. The Year Five classes will lead the school prayer assembly at 8:35am as we celebrate the wonderful work all the members of our staff do to ensure our school is safe, inclusive and filled with exciting learning opportunities.

Have a great week

 Mrs Bernadette Brennan

Prayer Reflection

Jesus’ parable teaches us about the Gospel Values of hospitality and justice through a great meal called a banquet. We are all invited to God’s banquet. How do we show we accept the invitation?

Prep Student-led initiative

Last week, prep students helped raise awareness of the beauty of God’s creation by constructing magnificent nature bracelets.  Prep sold these bracelets within our school community and raised $50 to donate to Catholic Mission and their project in Timor-Leste.  Prep students demonstrated thoughtfulness and consideration as they generated and organised this student-led initiative.

Have you ordered your subway lunch through Flexi-schools to help us raise funds for Catholic Mission to assist in Timor-Leste?
