Last year the Melbourne Archdiocese of Catholic Schools released the MACS Vision 2030 Statement - Faith, Hope and Love. Following on from the release of the MACS Vision Statement Catholic Schools across the Archdiocese have commenced professional learning with the MACS Vision for Instruction. Over the coming years the SJB leaders and staff at St John’s will participate in a number of professional learning opportunities in alignment with the MACS Vision for Instruction.
On Wednesday 29th, Ursula DeCorrado and myself attended a day of professional learning based on the MACS Vision for Instruction. The focus of the day was based on the Principles of Instruction and Cognitive Load Theory. The day was a well designed rigorous day of learning that Ursula and I look forward to leading the staff at SJB through in the weeks and months ahead.
At the end of the day we reflected upon the strong Learning and Teaching practices already in place at St John the Baptist. We look forward to working as a team to further deepen our understanding of how students best learn and how we can make refinements to enhance the strong learning and teaching practices already in place.
We thank families for understanding that at times staff may be released to attend days of professional learning as we continue to strive to be at the forefront of the most effective teaching and learning practices. These practices are steeped in deep research and evidence base. This is an exciting time of learning and refinement of our strong educational practices.
A friendly reminder that this Friday 7th June is a school closure day.
