Amy Love - Learning Enhancement Teacher

My name is Amy Love, and I’m excited to be joining the staff of Beaudesert State School in 2025 as part of the LET team. With seven years of experience in early primary education, I’m passionate about supporting young learners and helping them succeed. I’m looking forward to being part of the school community and working alongside students, staff, and families to make 2025 a fantastic year.

In 2025 we also welcome Ms Amanda Witt as a Teacher Aide transferring into our LET Teacher Aide team from Maroon State School.

Uniform Policy

A reminder that our uniform policy is expected to be followed up until the end of the school year. For the 2025 school year, our P&C have approved the ‘No School Hat = No Play’ policy. All Beaudesert State School students are expected to have a school hat every day. Currently a large proportion of our students are not following this expectation. Please use these last weeks of school to be prepared to start the school year with a school hat.

At the recent P&C meeting, the team endorsed the below Beaudesert State School uniform policy for 2025.

  • School uniform shirt or sports shirt.
  • Plain maroon shorts or skirts. No patterns.
  • Plain maroon jumper / track pants. No patterns.
  • Plain maroon wide brimmed hat. No patterns. No school hat = no play in 2025.
  • Year 6 senior shirt when in Year 6 except on formal school events such as school photo day, formal parades and graduation.
  • Black or white short socks.
  • Closed in shoes. Any colour. No cowboy boots or high top options.
  • One pair of studs or sleepers. One watch. No smart phone or device capability. *No other jewellery.
  • Hair below the shoulders is tied up in a neat and tidy manner.

We have been advised by the P & C that there will be an increase in uniform prices effective 20th January 2025. We recommend that families purchase uniforms before the end of this year to beat the price rise.

The uniform shop will be open in the PFD week - Monday 20th January and Friday 24th January from 8:00-9:00 each day.

Car Park Safety

We continue to have families that walk through the Ecole Street staff carpark with children. This is an incredibly dangerous area to be taking your children and I highly discourage you from using this space at any time. This is considered an out of bounds zone for our students during the school day. You can help keep our students safe by walking around this area on the oval or use our pedestrian walkway from Ecole Street as you enter our school.

End of Term Plans

All school events will be completed by end of Week 10 this year, including our end of year class parties. All classes will be holding their end of year parties on Friday 6th December and your teacher will be in contact around how this will look in your classroom.

This term we have an extra week added, making the term 11 weeks in total. Term 11 is an extension to our usual Week 10 activities at the end of the school year.  The school year finishes on Friday 13th December. Activities in the final week of school are at the teacher’s discretion, however, often look like games, movies, Christmas activities and cleaning out of the classroom. Student items will be sent home on Wednesday 11th December unless you notify your teacher of an early departure this year.

Staff on Leave

In the last week of school, we have a number of staff on leave including Mrs Joanne Williams from Year 1/2D, Tamara Royan from Instrumental Music, Miss Kimberley Pendreigh from Year 4B and Teresa Morgan from Year 6C. Relief teachers will be assigned to these classes in the last week of school. Mrs Michelle Ahrens in Year 2A, is on leave from the end of this week.

Back to School 2025

Our school will be open again on Monday 20th January to begin the new school year.

Booklists are available via our school website and on the AUDIRI App. If you would like us to send a paper copy home, please speak to the front office team.

Student Behaviour

At this time of the year, unfortunately it is common for behaviour to escalate across the school. The last 2 PBL cycles we have been focusing on ‘respecting personal space’ and ‘staying safe over the holidays’. Physical aggression is not tolerated at our school. Each incident is thoroughly investigated by the leadership team and appropriate consequences are communicated to parents and carers.

We have a vast arrangement of supports in place for students that require them to regulate their behaviour and all students are taught and encouraged to solve problems with their words and/or report the incident to a staff member. If the student feels like the staff member has not solved the problem, they are very welcome to also report their concern to the office. As we continue to have zero tolerance to physical aggression, thank you for echoing these expectations at home.

Classroom Reports

Year 4

Wow! Congratulations to our amazing Year 4 students who have completed a huge Term, Semester and Year!

Year 4 have thoroughly enjoyed writing an additional prank chapter for The Twits. We certainly have seen and read some very exciting and entertaining chapters. In Mathematics we have multiplied and divided our little hearts out, and looked at fractions here there and everywhere, number lines and all. Science this term was a very interesting deep dive into life cycles and food chains. We enjoyed exploring how different animals and plants are connected. We also mapped everything from ourselves, to Australia, to the world in HASS.

The real icing on the cake this term has been Year 4 Camp. The connections and memories we’ve made will be one to remember. Thank you to the Currumbin Community Farm Campus for having us. We cannot wait to end the term on an even higher note with our annual Christmas Concert and our annual Swimming Carnival. Talk about making a splash…

Miss Wood, Miss Diamond, Miss Pendreigh and Mrs Burgess would like to wish the Year 4 students all the best of luck as they prepare for Year 5 next year.

GOODLUCK!

Year 5

During Term 4, Year 5 students have been exploring a variety of poems, focusing on different forms of figurative language. They have also examined the unique structural features of poetry, such as stanzas, phrasing, and punctuation. As part of this learning journey, students were tasked with creating their very own poetry portfolio. Within these portfolios, they have written a poem about leadership, showcasing their understanding of figurative language. We hope you enjoy this snapshot of their fantastic learning.

I am a Leader! By: Jipsi 5A

I am a leader who is wise,

I have a big and kind heart.

Now in time watch me rise,

Because being kind has made me smart!

I am a leader who is caring,

I am as bright as the sun.

In meetings I am very daring,

But I like to have fun!

I am a leader who is polite,

And in hard times I am resilient.

To people I am a shining light,

Thinking of ideas that are brilliant!

I am a leader who is kind,

And I will never ever hide.

I hope you will all find,

That I am the best guide!

Leadership By: Myah 5A

I’m going for leadership,

I’m not the only one.

Shivering, shaking, sweating,

I hope I have some fun!

I’m as scared as a mouse,

My thoughts are roaming high.

Waiting, watching, whispering,

As I watch the students go by.

It’s my time to shine,

I walk onto the stage.

Leaping, looking, listening,

As I flip over my page.

As I start to finish my speech,

I am finally done.

Flipping, flopping, floating,

I hope I am the one!

Poppi is a Leader By Poppi 5A

I am as smart as Albert Einstein,

I will always think with pride.

Helpful, hard-working, honest,

I will always be here to guide.

Year 6

Hi Parents/Carers,

What a year we’ve had! Finishing off this year, we’ve had a few different events!

Camp

The kids spent five days engaging in a range of awesome activities designed to build team and problem-solving skills. They also engaged in a variety of challenging activities designed to bring out their inner warrior. Whether it be rock climbing, tobogganing, body boarding or bush walking, there was something for everyone and we certainly saw many step out of their comfort zone.

Social

Just last week the students were able to enjoy a fun night with their closest friends, scrubbing up quite nicely, enjoying a scrumptious meal and hilarious entertainment. This event was an opportunity to get dressed up and celebrate their achievements and closing the chapter on primary school.

Japanese Day

Today we were given the opportunity to immerse ourselves in many aspects of the Japanese culture. The students were informed about a traditional tea ceremony, participated in rounds of sumo wrestling and karate and even had the chance to test their musical and rhythmic skills on Taiko drums. It was a fantastic day which ended with a tasty bento box for lunch.

We wish all year 6 students a wonderful end to the year, a safe holiday and magnificent transition to high school in 2025!

From your Year 6 teachers,

Mrs Foster, Mrs Morgan, Mrs Witte (Previously Miss S) and Mrs Russell.

LOTE - Japanese

Year 6 Japanese Cultural Day

Our annual Japanese Cultural Day for the Year 6 students was another great day enjoyed by everyone who took part last Friday.  This cultural day has been running for over 25 years at Beaudesert State School, so our students are very fortunate to experience such an exciting part of our Japanese program.  They participated in a wide range of Japanese activities including karate with our team from Beaudesert Black Dragon Kai, Toko-ton Taiko Drums from Japan, green tea ceremony (sadou), calligraphy (shodo), Japanese sports carnival games and the very popular sumo wrestling.  We finished off the day with a delicious Japanese obentou lunch box. Oishikatta desu – it was yummy!  Students designed their own headband (hachimaki) with their Japanese name, something that they can keep to remind them of their final year of primary school Japanese.  In Japan, wearing a hachimaki shows a sign of team spirit and strength.  A special thank you to Frances Errington who has tirelessly made the hachimaki from scratch for the last 8 years.  Finally, I would like to say a very big thank you to all the staff involved and community members who volunteered their time to help put it all together for the students.  Arigatou gozaimashita – Thank you very much.

Design Technology

This term, students in Years 4 to 6 have been diving into important topics about staying safe in the digital world while honing their collaboration and creativity skills. This term they explored online privacy and security, worked with peers, and used digital tools to produce projects.

Year 4: PowerPoint Presentations

Our Year 4 students paired up to create informative PowerPoint presentations on online privacy and security. They began by brainstorming ideas and planning, followed by conducting research to gather information. They then worked collaboratively to design their slides.

Years 5 and 6: Infographic Design in Canva

Students in Years 5 and 6 also tackled the topic of online privacy and security but with a twist. They used Canva, an online design platform, to create infographics. These students worked in small groups, brainstorming, and researching key points about staying secure in the digital world.

With Canva, they transformed their research into visually appealing infographics. This project not only reinforced their knowledge of privacy and security but also strengthened their collaboration and digital design skills.
