Eastlakes Edition

Term 1 Week 11

Acknowledgement to Country

Students, teachers and parents of Eastlakes Public School, pay respects and acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, past, present and future who have the first connection to this land.

We are thankful for the Gadigal and Kameygal clans for taking care of the land, sky and waterways on which we learn and play today.

Together we will rise to the challenge and be respectful and responsible to care for our country.

Always was, always will be Aboriginal land

Term 1 in Review: A Celebration of Learning and Community

Reflecting on the many accomplishments and exciting events that have taken place in our school community this term, it has been a huge term filled with learning, connection, and celebration.

I am particularly proud of our Kindergarten students, who have successfully completed their first term at school. They have shown remarkable growth and enthusiasm as they embark on their educational journey. It has been wonderful to see their excitement and curiosity in the classroom.

Year 6 students and their families have also been busy applying for high schools for next year. This is an important milestone in their educational pathway.

Our Breakfast Club continues to be a resounding success, providing a nutritious start to the day for many of our students. This initiative not only supports healthy eating but also fosters connection.

Our school leaders recently attended the Young Leaders Conference with Mr Spencer and Mrs Taylor. This experience offered them invaluable opportunities to develop their leadership skills. We look forward to seeing how they will share their learnings and inspire their fellow students.

Dancesport lessons are currently underway and have been met with enthusiasm from our Stage 3 students.  The program will continue next term, allowing students to further develop their skills and confidence on the dance floor.

Harmony Week was a fantastic celebration of our diverse community, highlighted by our Taste of Harmony Lunch, engaging workshops about the history of Harmony Day, a migration story and First Nations stories and ending the week with the vibrant Drum Beats incursion. It was a wonderful opportunity to come together, learn from one another, and celebrate the richness of our school community.

The Science and Technology Catwalk showcased the incredible creativity and innovation of our students. It was a fabulous celebration of teaching and learning, demonstrating the use of natural dyes on clothing that our students have been working on throughout the term.

Our Personalised Learning Pathways Family BBQ was well attended, and it was heartwarming to see so many families coming together to enjoy good food and great company. These events strengthen our community ties and ensure learning and engagement for success.

As we wrap up the term, we are looking forward to the Easter Hat Parade, along with the P&C raffle. These activities are wonderful ways to conclude a busy and productive term.

I thank the teaching and non teaching staff for their commitment and dedication to providing a quality learning environment for our students this term. Well done to all K-6 students who have worked hard this term to learn as much as they can and participate in all opportunities provided to them.

Thank you, parents and carers, for your continued support and engagement in our school community. I wish you all a restful break and look forward to welcoming everyone back for another exciting term.
