From the Principal

Dear Parents and Caregivers

Courage

What a wonderful and busy time we have had! This morning's Assembly, presented beautifully by our Year 2 class gave me purpose to reflect on the last two weeks particularly. My reflection continually led me back to one thing - excellence.  I spoke about this today. I feel it is a word sometimes avoided as it can be interpreted to be the attainment of a particular result or level and this is associated with pressure. Whilst it could be this, it's also so much more.

Our Choir, Band and Orchestra members for the Festival of Music have been out in force over the past fortnight. From the mid-north to the Festival Theatre, they have literally delighted audiences over and over again. As a I said in Assembly, this demonstration of excellence is not one moment in time - the performance, it is a culmination of dedication, effort, resilience and team work.

During our Progressive Achievement Testing (PAT) this past week, I have watched class after class and some individuals dedicate themselves to showcasing all they know. To do this, students need to persevere, draw on years of learning, make attempts and review their work; this is excellence.

This morning, I spoke about excellence being something that is within each of us. It will look different, feel different and have different outcomes but it's there and not something we should shy away from, believing it can't be reached. With effort, support and at times some grit it can be reached and experienced by all.

I can certainly say there has been plenty to observe recently; these are only two examples! I think this speaks to our Value of Courage. Please embolden your children as we do, to be courageous and unafraid as they strive for excellence!

Staffing

We are thrilled to be welcoming back Ms Caroline Zada from maternity leave. Caroline will be team teaching with Ms Ashley Bell in our Room 10, Year 5/6 class beginning Week 1, Term 4. She will be here on Thursdays and Fridays and Ms Bell will continue to Monday to Wednesday. Ms Zada is well known to the children and much of the community; she always brings great expertise, a sense of calm and a deep investment in the children.

Kind regards

Chan
