Rozelle is a place where Aboriginal children learned, played and celebrated their culture for thousands of years on this beautiful, natural land. As we learn, play and celebrate together on this land, we honour the Wangal people of the Eora nation and pay our respects to elders both past, present and emerging.
As we come to the end of Term One, I would like to take this opportunity to reflect on our achievements, progress and the ongoing support and engagement from the Rozelle school community.
Firstly, I want to express my appreciation to all students and staff for their commitment and dedication to learning this term. School routines have been established and all extra-curricular activities are well underway. Our new Kindergarten cohort have been especially impressive in the way they have settled into daily routines, engaged in their learning and successfully navigated the school environment.
Our students continue to work towards their educational goals and have engaged in sports, arts and various other programs offered this term with enthusiasm. They have consistently acquired skills and confidence both academically and socially. Our students have demonstrated a strong sense of responsibility, respect, and kindness towards one another. This was particularly evident on the recent Stage Three overnight excursions to Canberra (Year Six) and Stanwell Tops (Year Five). Well done to all students for your outstanding behaviour and cooperation on both excursions.
I would like to acknowledge our teaching and non-teaching staff for working tirelessly across the term to set our students up for a successful year. This starts with our hardworking administration team who support staff, students and parents to ensure effective communication of all school programs and events.
Our teachers continue to deliver high quality teaching programs, going above and beyond to support our students' success. Over the past fortnight, most parents took the opportunity to meet with their child’s teacher, to discuss Term One progress. These important conversations help build on the strong partnership between home and school.
Looking ahead to the next term, we will use insights gained from reflecting on the achievement of both individuals and teams and set clear goals for the next term based on identified areas for improvement and opportunities for growth.
I would like to wish all our families an enjoyable Term One break and to thank our parents and staff for their ongoing support and partnership. I am proud of what we have achieved this term and I am confident this will continue throughout the year. I look forward to the term ahead.
PARENT TEACHER INTERVIEWS
Over the past few weeks’ most parents attended the parent teacher interviews. On all reports communication between our educators and parents was extremely positive and informative. This valued and essential process in receiving and providing progress reports on a child's academic and personal development is important in setting learning goals for the terms ahead. If you were unable to attend, please contact the school and the class teacher will facilitate a parent-teacher interview in the coming week or early in Term Two.
EASTER HAT PARADE
One of our most memorable school events must be our recent Easter Hat Parade. It was a delightful celebration of joy, creativity and community spirit with everyone cheering and acknowledging the children’s colourful and imaginative creations as they paraded along Darling Street for all our community to enjoy. It was a very exciting event and the hats could only be described as masterpieces! I must congratulate the children on their hard work, parents for their support in helping your children prepare for the parade and staff who are involved in the organisation in making these special events a huge success and Rozelle Public School so special.
