St Mary's Bulletin

Term 3 - Week 3 (7th August, 2026)

Dear St Mary's School Community,

Feast of Mary MacKillop Mass

Special mention must be made to the Year 1/2 class who celebrated the Mass this morning: they all read beautifully. Well done to Mrs Grant and Mrs Jackson for their preparation for the Mass this morning.

School attendance

School attendance matters as early as kindergarten. Children who regularly attend school have opportunities to socialise, problem solve, and learn in an enriched environment. Studies show that children who miss too many days in Kindergarten and Pre-Primary, struggle academically in later years.

It only takes one absence every two weeks for attendance to be concerning as learning is missed.

Attend today and achieve for a lifetime.

How can you help?

  • Make sure you child attends school every day unless they are ill
  • Have a regular morning routine that helps your child prepare for school
  • Solve any problems your child is having at school with their teacher as early as possible
  • Plan vacations during non-school days
  • Schedule your child’s dental and medical appointments at the end of the school day

Centenary Celebration

Once again, I would like to thank all who were involved in the joint Parish/School 100 Years Celebration that occurred last weekend. I’d particularly like to recognise those individuals from the Parish and School who were on the various committees that ensured the Mass was completed, food was prepared, cooked and delivered and exhibitions were set up and supervised. It was another example of St Mary’s people coming together to help and support each other for a great cause. Thank you!

Performing Arts

As many of you are aware, St Mary’s performed magnificently at the PAF Wednesday. It was great to see so many parents and family members attend the Liturgical Movement at Mercy College and then later the main event at PEC. We naturally extend our thanks to Mrs Silver and the numerous staff members who travelled to Perth to support the children.

Stay tuned for next weeks Newsletter for the full write up and photos from the event.

Hollyoake Wellbeing & Resiliency Forum

The Year 6 Wellbeing excursion to the Rec Centre was a great success on Tuesday. The day centered around learning skills that help you as a young adult, make good choices.

Climate Survey

Can I ask that all members encourage parents to complete the Climate Survey that will open soon. The results from the survey help us plan and offer an even better educational experience for the children and parents of the St Mary’s community.

School Photos

Once again MSP will be attending the St Mary’s School for School Photos. Photo Day is on the 11th August. Information went home last week. Please read all notes carefully and look after your “shoot key” as you will need this when ordering photos.

Farewell

It is also with great regret that we must farewell Miss Ariti from St Mary's. But there is a wonderful side to this because Miss Ariti is getting married in December; but this means she will be returning to live in Perth at the end of the year. We wish her well and thank her for all that she has done for us here at St Mary's. We send her our best wishes and hearty congratulations!

God Bless,

David Hamersley

Take A Guess Fundraiser

Our winning streak finally came to an end this week, with the 119 dishwasher pods proving too tricky to guess. All was not lost though as we did raise another $10.00 for Telethon!! This brings out total to $229.50 so far. Keep up the great work everyone!!!

Footy Tipping Round 21

Round 21 - Congratulations to Daniel Crabbe for the win this week. He takes home $50 thanks to CBH Merredin.

Round 22 is kindly sponsored by Two Dogs Mitre 10.

With only 3 rounds to go, it is still anyone's competition to win with only 2 games separating the top 10! It is going to be a close finish!

Happy Tipping!
