Dear JPS Families,

As we reach the end of my first term as principal at Jamberoo PS, I want to say a heartfelt thank you for the incredibly warm welcome you have given me. I have been genuinely amazed by this community — from the students and staff to the parents and wider community, the warmth, inclusivity and support I have experienced has made this first term such a positive one. I feel very lucky to be here.

That community spirit was on full display at the P&C's annual trivia night! The costumes were truly something to behold. Although I don't think the staff table will ever be able to compete on that front, we were (not so quietly) thrilled to take out first place in the trivia itself! A huge thank you to the P&C for organising such a wonderful evening, to all the parents and community members who came along, to the local businesses who generously supported with prizes and donations, to the Jamberoo Bowling Club for hosting, and to the fabulous Jack Yabsley who MC'd the night with great energy.

Speaking of the P&C, many of you will have seen the exciting information shared earlier this week about their garden project and ambitious plans to revamp our school playground. It is a wonderful initiative and the funds raised go directly towards making it a reality. If you'd like to help, the P&C are still seeking volunteers and donations for their Bunnings BBQ on Saturday 18th July — many hands make light work, and every dollar raised brings their vision for our school one step closer. Keep an eye out for more details and please do get involved if you can!

As we head into the break, I'd like to thank our amazing students, dedicated staff and supportive families for everything you have brought to this term. It has been filled with enriching learning opportunities both in and out of the classroom — a true reflection of the vibrant life of our school and the commitment to giving every student a broad range of experiences.

I hope you all have a wonderful, restful break and I look forward to seeing everyone back refreshed and ready to go in Term 3, with students returning on Tuesday, July 21st.

A huge thank you to Kings Patisserie for catering our Pie and Sausage Roll Day! 

We'd also like to thank all of our wonderful parents who supported the fundraiser by purchasing pies and sausage rolls. Thanks to your generosity, we raised $500, which will go towards the Year 6 gift.

It has been a busy and exciting term in the library, with every class developing their love of reading while exploring a range of engaging literature activities.

Wombarra students have been learning to identify the beginning, middle and end of a story and explain what happens in each part. They have also been discovering how the library works by learning about the important roles of an author and an illustrator, as well as how to locate books independently in the Junior Fiction section.

Bimbala students have been comparing characters from the stories we have read together. They have enthusiastically participated in a variety of hands-on activities, including creating freeze frames to depict different characters and their actions, helping to build their understanding of character traits and perspectives.

Walabi has been focusing on text-to-self connections, thinking about how the events, characters and themes in books relate to their own experiences. Making these personal connections has encouraged thoughtful discussions and strengthened comprehension.

Birrahlee has been focusing on has been learning about the different types of characters found in stories, such as heroes, villains and supporting characters. Students have investigated how each character plays an important role in developing the plot and making stories engaging.

Nanga Mai has been exploring how authors use characters, imagery, symbols and emotions to bring stories to life. Students have enjoyed discussing how these literary elements help readers understand deeper meanings and connect with the text.

The P&C will be running a Bunnings BBQ on Saturday, 18 July at Bunnings Shellharbour.

We are looking for volunteers to help throughout the day. Whether you can spare an hour or several hours, any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

We are also seeking donations of supplies for the event. Donations can be dropped off at the school front office before Friday, 3 July.
