As we return to school for Term 2 we prepare to remember all those who have been impacted by war. It is a time to open our hearts, thoughts and prayers for all impacted by the hardship of war both historically, as well as the current unrest in the world. At a time of such unrest and uncertainty may we find gratitude, kindness, love and appreciation for all the good we are blessed to experience.
As a community we will gather by the flag poles for our ANZAC Day prayer service on Friday. We warmly welcome our community to join us at 10:40am. As you may know, traditionally flowers are laid at memorials to honour those who have died as a sign of respect. In keeping with tradition, any children wishing to bring flowers to school on Friday will be invited to present these during the service. Please note that these could be a posy of flowers cut from their own gardens.
Each year our ANZAC Day prayer service is a most reverent and moving service as we take time to respect all. Lest We Forget.
For the Fallen
They shall grow not old, As we that are left grow old,
Age shall not weary them, Nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun, And in the morning
We will remember them. Lest we forget.
We will remember them. Lest we forget.
God of love and liberty, we bring our thanks this day for the peace and security we enjoy, which was won for us through the courage and devotion of those who gave their lives in time of war. We pray that their labour and sacrifice may not be in vain, but that their spirit may live on in us and in generations to come. That the liberty, truth and justice which they sought to preserve may be seen and known in all the nations upon earth. This we pray in the name of the one who gave his life for the sake of the world, Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
