Principal's Message - Kim Fraser

How fortunate are we to have such a caring and generous P & C and parents! Today we were blown away when staff received a coffee and some yummy food on behalf of the P & C/Parents for ‘World Teachers Day’. Staff were showered with loads of beautiful accolades and little gifts from the kids and parents. From all the staff, we would like to send a huge thank you! We are so grateful to be part of such a generous community.

A massive thank you to the P & C and all the parent volunteers for organising, setting up and managing the Disco!! The kids, and some parents, from all accounts, had a ball. So wonderful to see lots of community help, allowing us to provide such fun and events for the children.

Without the generosity of our volunteers, we would not be able to provide the extra support in classrooms, school, and P & C events. As a small way of celebrating and thanking all our volunteers we have an annual Volunteers Morning Tea. We hope that many of you will be able to come along so the CPS staff can thank you personally. If you haven’t already, please RSVP to Churchlands.ps@education.wa.edu.au so we can ensure we have enough delicious treats for you all.

We had a very successful Kindy Orientation Day last week where the incoming K children and their parents spent some time in the Kindy classes getting to know the learning and play environment and the teachers. The parents’ information night on Wednesday was also a great success. The aim is to ensure the children and parents are familiar with the class and school setting leading to a smooth start to the year for them all.

We had our Board Community meeting last Monday. Please take the time to review the directions, Focus 2025, Data Overview. School Board Co-Chairs Report 2024 and the P & C 2024 Celebrations/Overview which we have placed on our website.

Staff have begun the process of developing classes for 2025. Organising staffing and student placements is a highly complex process, with many factors playing a role in what the composition of classes will look like. We are governed by the funding we are provided through the Department and the number of students enrolled as well as working within the Union Award and Agreement guidelines. Please be assured that a lot of time and effort is taken to ensure each child is placed in the best possible class that suits their social, emotional, and academic development. Please refer to the Class Placement Policy and Class Structures/FAQ on the webpage, as a guide for parents for further clarification of the processes used.

If your child is not attending CPS next year, please inform the Principal in writing ASAP, Kim.Fraser@education.wa.edu.au, as late changes can affect our class structures and staffing arrangements.
