Dear Community
Today is P&C Day!
Our P&C are an extremely important part of our school community and work tirelessly to enhance learning experiences and opportunities for all of our students. Below are just some of the wonderful things that they do for us.
1. They plan amazing events like discos and bingo nights
2. They run a canteen service for our students
3. Their fundraising efforts mean families pay $30 instead of $60 for swimming lessons
4. They help make sure new families are welcomed into our community
5. They run our school uniform shop
6. They cover the cost of Mathletics licenses for our students each year
7. They spend an evening chopping onions before every sausage sizzle
8. They provide snazzy shirts for our choir and interschool athletes
9. They source grants and provide fundraising opportunities to support upgrades such as the library and nature play for our students
10. THEY DONATE ENDLESS AMOUNTS OF THEIR OWN TIME AND KIND HEARTS TO DO ALL OF THE ABOVE!!!
A big thank you from all the staff, students and families that make up our wonderful Scarborough PS community.
School Photos
On Wednesday, a personalised envelope for school photos was sent home with every student.
All students MUST bring their completed personalised envelopes to photo day even if they have opted not to purchase photos.
Student photo day is Wednesday 31 May for all students apart from Kindy Group 2. Sibling photos will take place in the library at 8:15 am on the 31 May. If you would like to organise a sibling photo, please request a separate envelope from the front office so we can schedule in your children.
Kindy G2 photos will be Thursday 1 June along with Year 6 graduation photos. Additional sibling photos are also available on Thursday 1 June for children in Kindy Group 2 and any students absent the previous day.
If a second personalised envelope is required for another guardian ordering photos, please contact the office and we can arrange this for you.
The last date for ordering photos at the discounted price is 8 June 2023, after this date you will be charged at standard rates.
Parking at school pick up
Unfortunately, we have had several more incidents of parents parking inappropriately on Hinderwell Street, at school pick up. This is causing safety concerns for our students. The rangers have been in attendace several times over the past fortnight and will continue to monitor the school over the next few weeks.
Tickets may be issued for people not following correct parking procedures, including double or triple parking to pick up students. Please park in the correct places to help keep our children safe.
Cyber Safety
Over the next few fortnights, there will be a focus on cyber safety in each newsletter. Cyber safety is a topic that we teach as part of our Protective Behaviours curriculum at school, however, it is helpful if these important messages are also understood and delivered at home too.
This week, we will be focussing on online games. The information and links below come from the eSafety Commissioner.
Online games can be great fun for your child, but make sure you can help them manage the risks.
Many games can improve your child’s coordination, problem-solving and multi-tasking skills, as well as help build social skills through online interactivity with other players. But it is also important to understand what might go wrong and could have a negative impact on your child.
