I am delighted to share with you the strong, high-quality classroom learning that continues to take place across our school. Every day, our teachers and students are engaged in purposeful, rigorous learning that builds confidence, deep understanding, and a genuine love of learning.
One area of particular strength is our approach to spelling and reading. We have implemented a structured, phonemic-based approach that ensures students develop a solid foundation in decoding, fluency, and comprehension. This systematic method allows students to gain confidence as readers and writers, while also ensuring no gaps in essential skills are overlooked. Importantly, student progress is carefully tracked and benchmarked across year levels. This enables teachers to tailor instruction to meet individual needs and ensure every learner is making strong and sustained progress.
To further strengthen our academic standards, we are currently conducting PAT (Progressive Achievement Tests) across the school. These assessments provide an additional layer of data, allowing us to measure student achievement against international benchmarks. The insights gained from PAT testing support our teachers in refining their practice and ensure that we continue to maintain high standards aligned with global expectations.
Embedding quality in teaching practice is also a key priority. Our work is supported by the IEA Teacher Appraisal Program, which promotes continuous professional growth through reflection and feedback. As part of this process, classroom observations are currently being conducted by Mr Sowter. These observations provide valuable opportunities to celebrate effective teaching while also identifying areas for further development. This ongoing cycle of improvement ensures that our students benefit from the very best instructional practices.
Beyond the classroom, it is great to see our students actively preparing for one of the highlights of our school calendar. I invite all families to attend the LIS “Got Talent” Show, which will be held next Thursday at 6:00pm in the Secondary Campus Hall. This special event is part of our 50th Anniversary of the IEA and promises to be an entertaining evening showcasing the creativity, confidence, and talent of our students. The level of enthusiasm and preparation from those involved has been outstanding, and we are certain it will be a memorable occasion for our entire community.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support of our school.
Success Starts Here!
