From the Principal's Desk...

I can't believe the countdown to the end of the year is on! Our Balmain Public School elves are super-busy finalising the contents of what promises to be a wonderful keepsake of your child's year at BPS. All we now need is a cover! Please see details below...

PURCHASE YOUR '2023 BALMAIN PUBLIC SCHOOL YEARBOOK' NOW! Last day for purchase is Wednesday 15 November, to ensure enough time for publishing in time for the last week of school. Each yearbook is only $35. You can but as many copies as you'd like. Please use the link below to buy yours NOW!

PLEASE KEEP THEM COMING! We're collecting plastic bottle lids for a special project. Please wash and dry instead of recycling. There is a collection box in the foyer, outside the office. Thanks so much for your help!

***COMPASS IS OUR MAIN FORM OF COMMUNICATING WITH YOU***In case of urgent/important communication, notifications via the Compass app on your phone will keep you informed***

To ensure you receive all communication via Compass, please have the app downloaded on your phone, with the notifications turned ON.

Although the school pushes out notifications via the app and email, there may be times when an important message may be missed as emails may sometimes not be checked regularly.

If there were to be an emergency, (hopefully not), information would be pushed out via Compass.

SPOTLIGHT ON...

1/2 LASAGNE!!!!!

1/2L have had an exciting start to Term 4. Spooky season brought lots of excitement, as we had our Halloween disco last week. All children and teachers alike had great fun dressing up! One of the many creative students in our class even brought us in some lollipops wearing costumes!

The children have been busy voting in their preferred candidates for parliament. They have been thinking hard about their futures as potential candidates.

'Hola! ¿Cómo estás?' might be a phrase you hear around the playground as the children have been enjoying learning some more Spanish phrases. We have a student in our class who is learning English, therefore we decided to learn Spanish as a class too. We love to be multi-lingual and diverse!

5/6 PEARL!!!!!

Last term we started Freedom to Learn (F2L) which is a project designed for Treehouse students to learn about a topic they are interested in and at the end of 10 weeks, give a presentation to the class. This semester, the broad topic was cultures, specifically in Asia. We’ve had at least 1 hour each week in class to work on our projects, either alone or in a group of our choosing. We don’t only take away facts from F2L, we also improve our presentation skills and have lots of fun with our friends! The last week and a half, we’ve been presenting and watching F2L presentations. The topics ranged from Asian food to creating your own transportation systems. We’ve had lots of fun! Here, you will see 3 different groups who have presented this week. In the top picture is Miles and Ginger who focused on Asian food and gave us some yummy mango pancakes! Next down is Aojun and Kayden who made a great model of a temple! They spent lots of time and effort and, as you can see, it paid off! And last, we have members of the Treehouse making the puzzle of Europe Henry, Anthony, Sam and Dylan’s group made. All in all, we’ve had a great time watching the F2L presentations! Addie & Ginger
