The Gospel (Matthew 10: 41 - 42)

Jesus said, “Accepting a messenger of God is as good as being God’s messenger. Accepting someone’s help is as good as giving someone help. This is a large work I’ve called you into, but don’t be overwhelmed by it. It’s best to start small. Give a cup of cold water to someone who is thirsty, for instance. The smallest act of

giving or receiving makes you a true apprentice. You won’t lose out on a thing”.

... On the way to Mass

Jesus is asking us to love Him before anything else. What are some ways we can do that every day?

On the way home from Mass ...

Jesus asks us to “take up our cross and follow him”. What are some crosses in our lives? How can we follow Jesus with these crosses?

The Prayer

Generous God, we come to this place of worship and hope to be welcomed. We come to this time of worship and hope to welcome you. Come among us and open our hearts and minds this day, so that we are ready to receive all whom you love and welcome. For in doing so we gain a reward more valuable than any this world can offer: the reward of better knowing you and our fellow human beings

Amen.

The Question of the Week

Staff/Parents

When have you felt more fully alive by giving yourself to another?

What little sacrifices could you make now that would help your Christian training?

Primary Students

When have you been able to put what someone else needs ahead of what you want for yourself?

The Action

Prophecy is by its nature a challenge to the way things are. If we don’t want to change, then prophets will always seem like threatening characters. They don’t come to affirm us, but to invite us to come closer to the will of God. Receive prophets if you dare, but be prepared to do more than rearrange the furniture of your world. Find the corner of your life where the irritability factor is high. Chances are this is the very place where prophecy is trying to speak. Listen to the challenge being offered to you, and reply.

Thank You
