Principal's Report

Dear Families,

Stage 3 Camp

I hope our Stage 3 students and teachers have a restful weekend after what has been a busy couple of days in Canberra. We are still expecting their arrival home around 8:00 pm. We will let you through email if they are not going to be on time.

Kindergarten Orientation

We recently held our final Kindergarten Orientation session on Monday, and we are thrilled to report that our intake for 2026 is looking strong. It is wonderful to see our cohort grow.

The orientation sessions have been a fantastic opportunity for new families to get to know our school environment, meet teachers and staff, and feel welcomed into our school community. These sessions play a vital role in supporting a smooth and positive transition for our youngest learners.

We warmly welcome all our new families and look forward to partnering with them in their child’s educational journey. 2026 promises to be an exciting year for our Kindergarten students.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the orientation sessions so successful. We are eager to embark on this new school year together!

Jamberoo Community Preschool Visits

In Week 6, our Jamberoo Community Preschool visitors will have the opportunity to participate in exciting science, sporting games and library activities. These hands-on experiences are designed to introduce them to different teachers and learning spaces in our school.

World Teachers' Day

Thank you to all our teachers for the outstanding work they do every day. Their dedication, compassion and unwavering commitment to the students and school creates a lasting impact that goes well beyond the classroom walls. Happy World Teachers' Day!

Tour De Cure and Wear it Yellow - This Monday

On Monday, bike riders taking part in a 3-day ride will arrive at JPS. Students are encouraged to wear a yellow shirt or accessory and bring a gold coin donation to support Tour De Cure, raising funds for cancer research. We look forward to welcoming the peloton and hearing an inspiring talk on healthy lifestyles.

Leadership Roles 2026

Jamberoo Public School values student leadership, providing opportunities for Year 6 students to serve as School Captains and Vice-Captains. Leadership roles extend to Year 5 and 6 for Library Monitors, Sport House Captains and the Technology Team as well. Eligible students must demonstrate exemplary behaviour aligned with school values. Leaders have responsibilities including representing the school, coordinating events and supporting peers. Induction ceremonies mark the start of leadership terms, fostering student involvement in school governance and community activities. Parents and students will receive information about these roles next week.

The Week In View

Multicultural Perspectives Public Speaking State Final

As the sun rose last Friday, a lively posse of public speaking enthusiasts from Jamberoo Public School boarded the train to Sydney, full of excitement for the Multicultural Perspectives Public Speaking Competition State Final. While the trip promised a day of inspiring speeches from the top ten Stage 3 speakers across NSW, the biggest thrill came from cheering on our very own Zahli, who proudly represented Jamberoo PS at the event.

Zahli captivated the audience with her prepared speech, Everybody Has a Story, where she shared the powerful message that if you can’t find characters who reflect you in the stories you read, perhaps it’s because you are meant to write and share your own. Her thoughtful words and poise resonated with everyone in the room. Zahli also delivered a fantastic impromptu speech about the negative impacts of social media—tackling issues like online bullying and ‘pile-ons’ with maturity and insight.

Although she didn’t take home the top prize, Zahli’s achievement in being named one of the top ten speakers in NSW out of tens of thousands of participants is something to be immensely proud of. Her confidence, intelligence, and articulate presentation made her a standout on the day.

A special shout-out also goes to Maeve and Kiara, who represented Jamberoo PS beautifully in their roles as timekeeper and chairperson. Their professionalism and friendliness helped ensure the event ran smoothly. And of course, thank you to our wonderful band of supporters, whose enthusiasm, respect, and positive spirit made the day such a memorable and enjoyable experience for everyone—Mr Reed and I included.

PSSA League Tag Gala Day

Last Tuesday, students from years 3,4,5 and 6 braved the chilly weather to take part in the PSSA Dragons League Tag Gala Day. Despite the grey skies and a few passing showers, the enthusiasm on the field was enough to brighten the day!

From the first kick off, it was clear that our students weren’t letting the cold slow them down. There were impressive passes, quick footwork, solid defence and fantastic teamwork throughout the matches. Mr Reed and Mrs Milligan were thrilled to see how much skill and confidence the students developed throughout the day.

What stood out most, however, was the excellent sportsmanship displayed by our teams. Players encouraged one another, shook hands after matches and showed great respect for referees and opponents alike. The chilly breeze couldn’t dampen the warm spirit of fair play and camaraderie on and off the field.

The gala day was also a wonderful chance for students to connect with peers from other schools, develop their skills and experience the fun of Rugby League Tag. Everyone represented our school with pride, resilience and big smiles, even in the cold!

Congratulations to all our young athletes for a brilliant day of rugby league tag!

Year 3 to 6 students were in the garden this week. Thank you all for your help. We cleared one bed as we prepared to 'put it to sleep' for the summer holidays. The students took home spinach, calendula flowers, carrot and artichoke.

I am delighted to announce that in the children's garden category of the spring garden competition of Kiama Garden Club, our school received the first place prize! We are grateful to Kiama Garden Club and their sponsors.

Class Spotlight

Wombarra

Kindergarten have been busy building their number skills this term. Students have been exploring different ways to make numbers using hands-on materials such as dice and dominoes. They have enjoyed discovering how numbers can be combined in many ways to reach the same total, developing their confidence with early addition and number patterns.

In creative arts, Kindergarten have been participating in drama lessons where they use imagination, movement, and expression to bring stories to life. This week, we focused on the fairytale Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Students had lots of fun acting out the story, using their voices and actions to bring each character to life. Through drama, they are learning to work together, share ideas, and build confidence when performing in front of others.

It’s been wonderful to see their enthusiasm and growing skills in both mathematics and the arts!

Birrahlee

In our geography unit, Birrahlee looked at parks. They thought about who visits parks and what parks are used for. They brainstormed what they thought were important inclusions in a park and set about designing their own. Birrahlee drew a map of their design using the perspective of, ‘a bird’s eye view’ and then, using lego, built a 3D model.

It was great fun!

Nanga Mai

What a wonderful start we’ve had to the term! The students have settled back in and it’s been great to see their enthusiasm in all areas of learning.

In English, we’ve been busy writing our Jamberoo Jabber speeches. The students have worked hard to plan, draft and refine their ideas. I’m really looking forward to hearing everyone present their speeches next week!

In Maths, we’ve been exploring patterns and multiplication. The students have been identifying number patterns, creating their own, and using different strategies to solve multiplication problems.

A highlight of last week was our special visit with Hazel’s baby bunnies! The children loved meeting the adorable rabbits. I have included some photos from the visit below.

Library

Term 4 Library Reward – Borrow and Win!

This term, our library has a special reward program to celebrate all our enthusiastic readers! Every time a student borrows a book, they will receive a ticket. This ticket goes into our “Library Reward Jar” for a chance to win an exciting prize!

The winner will be drawn in Week 8, so the more books you borrow, the more chances you have to win!

It’s a fun way to explore new stories, discover new interests, and enjoy the magic of reading. We can’t wait to see which lucky readers will take home a special reward. Happy reading!

Mrs Green

Don’t Forget Your Library Bag!

To help keep our library books in great condition, we ask that all students bring a library bag when borrowing books. A bag keeps books dry, clean, and protected, helping them last longer for all our readers to enjoy.

Please check that your child has a library bag each week so they can safely borrow and return books. Thank you for helping us look after our library collection!
