Week 9 - Term 4, 2024

Message From The Principal

Dear Parents and Carers

As we approach the end of another fantastic school year, we want to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude to each member of our school community. Your support, enthusiasm, and commitment to our students have made this year truly remarkable.

This year, we celebrated a number of significant achievements, including our outstanding musical production that showcased the incredible talents of our students. The dedication and hard work put in by our students and staff was truly inspiring, and it brought joy to everyone involved.

We are also proud to highlight the growth we have seen across all students, particularly in Mathematics.

Moreover, we want to acknowledge the values our students display towards each other and the accepting nature that permeates our school community. It is this kindness and respect that fosters a positive learning environment for all.

As we enter the holiday season, we encourage everyone to take time to relax and enjoy precious moments with family and friends. We hope you all return refreshed and ready for an exciting new year ahead.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back in 2025 for another year of learning, growth, and community spirit.

Wishing you all a wonderful holiday season!

Last day of the term for all students is Wednesday 18 December. We will be farewelling our Year 6 students at 2:50pm in the school hall. Parents are welcome to join in for our farewell arch.

Student Reports

As we approach the end of the academic year, we would like to remind families that student reports will be issued on Friday 13 December. These reports provide a comprehensive overview of your child's progress, achievements, and areas for further development throughout the year.

We encourage parents and caregivers to take the time to review these reports carefully and discuss them with their children. This is a valuable opportunity to celebrate successes and set goals for the upcoming year. Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership in your child's education.

2025 Staffing

Over the term, we have been working on the classes for next year. Please be assured that a lot of thought is being put into both the class structure and the allocation of students into these classes, taking into account academic needs, friendship groupings and special considerations in terms of student learning. Input by the teachers, who know the children well, is contributing to the final placement of students. We will be forming nine classes in 2025.

Online Safety Basics - Reminder

We live in a world where children have and use devices daily. There is now a tremendous amount of research available on the effects of online addiction and this starts when children are very young. It is important to set parameters and rules around their use when at home. Often, as teachers, we confront issues at school which have spilled over from home when children are online. Some excellent advice from the safety commissioner

Set some rules

  • Set age-appropriate rules for devices and online access, with consequences for breaking them.
  • Seek your child’s input — this will help them understand risks. As they get older you can review your rules.
  • Consider creating a family online safety contract to help you agree on the rules, and renegotiate it as required.
  • The contract could cover the type of websites that can be visited, time spent online and acceptable online behaviour. This example from ThinkUKnow Australia can be a good starting point.
  • The consequences for breaking the rules should be clear and should mean something to your child. Raising Children Network has some useful tips and advice.
  • Consider making some ‘rules for parents’ too — and stick to them! Model behaviour that you would like to see.

Swap It

SWAP IT is an evidence-based, healthy lunchbox program for primary schools. The program supports parents and carers to SWAP what is packed in their child’s lunchbox from sometimes foods to everyday foods.

The food children consume at school impacts their concentration, health and wellbeing. By improving lunchboxes, we can make a huge difference! The school lunchbox contains approximately one third of a child’s daily energy intake – a significant opportunity to improve nutrition and health outcomes.
