Term 2 - Week 2 (1st May, 2026)

Dear St Mary's School Community,

Focus Value: : Respect

We value others, their property, the environment and ourselves.

Year Six Camp

This week I joined the Year Sixes in Point Peron for their Year Six Camp. We had a fantastic week, which we invite you all to come along and hear about at our Week Five Assembly. I would like to extend a big thank you to Mrs Mac for organising another week jam packed full of amazing activities and for getting the children to and from the camp safely once again!! I would also like to thank  Miss Ashwin for accompanying us and helping to look after the children!

Running Club

Can parents please remind students that once they complete Running Club and have collected their toast and milo , that students are to wait outside their classrooms until their classroom doors open. Students should not be wandering around the school or playing on the lawn or oval/play equipment, as there are no staff on duty in these areas before school, it is not safe for students to be playing here unattended. This will also help to ensure that all students can be in class to start school by 8.40am. Thank you :)

GEMS

Mrs Mac and I will be away on Tuesday attending the GEMS conference in Southern Cross.

P&F

A reminder that our P&F meeting is on Monday the 30th of March at 7pm. All are welcome to attend.

Mother's Day Mass & Morning Tea

Next Friday is our Mother's Day Mass and Morning Tea. The Mass will commence at 9.00am in the Church, followed by a sumptuous morning tea in the hall.  All Mother's Grandmothers, Aunts and others significant women in our students lives are invited to attend.

God Bless

Report from Camp

On Tuesday, Mrs Mac delivered us all safely to Point Peron Campsite after visiting Parliament House. When we arrived we were met by our local Member of Parliament Lachlan Hunter. He spoke to us on the steps of the House and showed us around the ground floor. After our tour, we headed to Camp where we spent the evening on the beach. On Wednesday we canoed and snorkelled, we spent the afternoon in the gym on the fantastic Crate climb exercise. We also had a lucky visitor for the day in Father Philip. We again spent the evening on the beach. On Thursday morning we built rafts and played beach games. In the afternoon we spent time in the gym abseiling. At night we went for a windy walk and watched the sunset. We arrived safely back at school today. Special thanks to Mrs McDonald for organising a wonderful Camp and for Miss Ashwin who spent the four days also looking after us; we had so much fun.

Win Big. Give Back. Help Build Westonia’s Playground.

Westonia is a small town based in the heart of the wheatbelt, built on mining, young and old farming families and people from all walks of life. This little country town is full of community spirit. In recent years, we have seen a big growth in young children and babies in our shire. Whether they've grown up here or are new to our town, we want to do our best to support them. One way we can do that is by providing a safe area for them to come together with friends and family to play, grow and learn.

We’re holding this fundraiser to help raise funds and support our vision of a brand-new playground that will help our children thrive. For just $100 you could be in the chance to win a brand new 2026 Hilux SR as first prize and a brand new 2026 Polaris Ranger 1000 Premium as second prize.

We have received valuable feedback from the community suggesting that a referral form would help connect parents and carers with the Saver Plus program more easily.

In response, we’re pleased to introduce a new Referral Form, designed to simplify the process of getting in touch with us.

If you need anything else, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Families can still enquire directly by calling our free number 1300 610 355
