Welcome to this edition of our school newsletter. It has been a very busy and enjoyable Term 3. A big congratulations to our students from Room 1 who presented an amazing assembly item on the book the “Elephant and the Boy’ that they had adapted. Their writing, performance of their pages, as well as their artwork were on show for all to see, an amazing effort!
We have welcomed our new Deputy Principal to work with our leadership team on our school improvement initiatives. Please see below where Miss Rachel Subhaya has introduced herself. Miss Subhaya has most recently come from Cunderdin DHS and has a passion for improving student outcomes. We are excited for her to be joining our team. Please say hello is you see her around the school.
We have recently run our Faction Athletics Carnival, Jumps and Throws Day and ECE Fun Carnival. The students were fantastic participants and joined in a variety of athletic and fun events. Well done to everyone for their sportsmanship and comradery. A big congratulations to the runner up and champion students and of course, Parnka, for bringing home the shield. Thank you to the staff who organised and ran events and to our community members who helped with the days. Next week our selected students will be representing the school at our Interschool Events for Years 2-6.
We had some very successful events since our last edition and many of them are showcased below. Miss Cook organised a great Bookweek parade where our students and staff creativity certainly came to the fore. Additionally, we have had activities from Aus Earth, Nexus Science, Father’s Day Maths and Footy Morning, P&C stalls and Golf and Football clinics.
Our staff have been busy as well with some professional learning to support our students. We have had many teachers giving up their Saturdays to complete Classroom Management Strategies training and TeachWell (a direct instruction strategy to support engagement and curriculum delivery). We were privileged enough to host the Karijini Network of schools to learn about the Future Leaders Framework and where this can build the personal attributes and skills of our staff.
Issues may arise during your child’s schooling and these are more productively resolved if you raise them with the school directly, as early as possible. If you are not sure who to speak to, you can start with your child’s teacher. For some matters, it may be appropriate to talk directly to our administration team. Our priority is always your child and in developing a close relationship with our school community where we all work together to provide the best educational opportunities for all children at Newman Primary School.
