Principal's Report

Hello everyone,

How quickly a term can fly by! In some ways it feels like it has gone by in a flash and when I sit back and reflect on all of the things we have done it becomes very clear taht it has been a substantially busy term!

One of the elements that made to finish to term a busy one was NAPLAN. Congratulations to all students in grades 3 and 5 who participated in the tests. It was great to see everyone take on the tests with positivity and appreciate the opportunity to demonstrate their skills and knowledge in particular areas. A big thank you to all the staff who were involved in the preparation and administering of the tests as well.

A huge thank you to those who were able to attend our final FOS meeting for the term. We congratulate the following people on their appointments to the roles of:

                              President: Nick Farley

                              Vice-President: Lila Tournier

                              Secretary: Katya Woods

                              Treasurer: Sandi Gardner

FOS has a very big year of events and activities ahead so if, at any point in the year, you feel you could offer some support please get in touch and we can support you to support FOS. We will be having a Fete Meeting on the 23rd of April at 7:30PM to discuss stalls, activities, rides and advertising so please do join us if you have any ideas that you would like to see implemented for this year’s Fete!

This last week of Term has already been a big one! We had our first ever Colour Run on Monday which was a huge success! Feedback from students was along the lines of… ‘Best day of my life!’ and ‘Awesomely fun!’. We worked with our students to coincide this event with the Hindu Holi Festival and the wider celebrations of Harmony Week. It was great to see Yash and Aaradhya step up at assembly and speak to the whole school about what Holi is and its important messages about diversity and spreading love and positivity with our actions.

As well as our Colour Run we will be welcoming Super Mande Percussion to run African Drumming workshops for all classes tomorrow.

Tomorrow will see our annual Easter Raffle held at our final assembly for the term. If you have not already brought back your raffle tickets, please do so as soon as possible so they can be included in the ballot. Our final assembly will be in our School Hall and will begin at 1:45PM. I hope to see you all there!

We will be running the first week of our Swimming Program in week two of next term. This is an intensive swimming ability program that compliments any swimming lessons your child may be doing outside of school and is a lot of fun! It is necessary to fill in an ability form for your child/ren so that they can be organised into ability groups. Could you please make sure these notes are returned by tomorrow as well as payment and consent provided through QKR.

Just a quick reminder that school finishes at 2:30PM tomorrow!

I hope that everyone gets to get some time to rest and recharge over the Easter break, ready to hit the ground running next term!

Many thanks, Joe.

On Monday, Mount Macedon Primary School had a Colour run. Everyone wore a white shirt and participated for Holi and Harmony week, afterwards there was a Pop up cafe. Everyone got covered in colourful powder and a splash of water because it was hot outside. Thank you to Amy and Nick (Valentino’s dad) for coordinating the colour run and the parents that helped splash the colour onto everyone.

SCHOOL'S OUT!

This week in DigiTech

As today was the our last session of the term, I thought the Junior students could reflect on their first term and learn some video editing skills in the process.

So, the plan was to walk around the school and capture photos and videos of the things the students most fondly look back on - I was hoping we would see playgrounds, gardens, stories of cross-country, and colour runs... instead, well, click on the video below to head into the mind of a 6-year-old...*

*(but to be fair, it is a pretty cool video that would probably not be out of place at the next Independent French Film Festival, with some great editing too)

PS: If any Prep happens to ask where their video is, I haven't forgotten, they will be coming in our next, exciting episode!
