Student Leadership...

NAIDOC 2024

National NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia in the first week of July each year (Sunday 7 to Sunday 14 in 2024), to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC Week is an opportunity for all Australians to learn about First Nations cultures and histories and participate in celebrations of the oldest, continuous living cultures on earth. As NAIDOC falls during school holidays, we have celebrated this week.

If you missed our Assembly, our student leaders respectfully acknowledged NAIDOC Week, which included 'Diversity, Culture & Communities' Ministers, Nina and Imogen, sharing the Dreamtime story of 'How the Birds Got Their Colours' with the Balmain community. They did a magnificent job. Head over to our Instagram account, @balmainps, to watch the video...

Senior

  • Balmain A

Balmain A v Orange Grove B 16-1

Captain: Annabel Lau

Mvp: Arwen, intercepted lots of throws for the full game and she kept fighting, not letting the other team get the ball to their side even with the sun shining in all our faces.

Mip: Nina, she played a position she had never played before and was really determined, training her shooting without stopping when she could.

  • Balmain B

Balmain B v Leichhardt B 3-10

Captain: Victoria G

MVP: Halle because she still played incredibly well even though she was not in her usual position.

MIp: Zerene because she tried her best in her first game.

Balmain C v Kegworth C 5 - 3

Captain: Gemma K

SOCCER...

From our players (and unedited)...

Junior A

26.07 Balmain vs Annandale

Won 7-1

The junior A’s worked well together as a team this week, winning 7-1. We shared the ball around equally and made sure that everyone had a fair go. Our defense was very switched on and made sure that we had majority of the play. James was an outstanding goalkeeper and was close to scoring some goals too.

Hamish O

Junior B

Had a bye this week. They were great supporters of our other playing teams.

A Grade

Senior A

Today although the senior A team lost 3-1, the whole team still put in a lot of work to get the goal. Overall, i think the player of the match should be Markus A in goals, as he did amazing saves, and saved the team a lot of times.

Oscar L

Senior A

Today we beat Annadale North 2-0. Ernst scored two goals. It was a nerve wracking win with a goal sealer in the last minute. The team played really good defence and attack, and overall it was a pretty good win. Player of the match goes to Ernst and Oliver because they played well as team.

Juma M

Senior B

Senior B vs Annandale North

Balmain Bs had an exciting and challenging game this week. We won 2-1. We defended and attacked really well so it was hard to pick a Man of the match but in the end I picked Aki for scoring one goal and always clearing the ball when it got too close.
