Term 1 Week 4 2024

Introducing Staff

PSSA Trials

Students have been attending sporting trials for the South Coast teams. Congratulations to Will for progressing to Zone trials for AFL, and Tameka, Evelyn and Maggie for progressing to the Zone trials for Netball.

Dogs in school grounds

Under the Companion Animals Act 1998 (NSW, Section 14) dogs are prohibited on school grounds.

Exceptions to this would be if permission was granted for visits by groups for incursions, supporting educational programs or activities such as news, an assistance or service dog.

Labelling School Items

Labelling school items such as hats, jumpers, drink bottles and lunch boxes allows us to return your child's items to them.

Families are reminded that students should be in full school uniform, including when necessary school jumpers and school hats. Please contact the Office of you need assistance sourcing uniform items.

Your guide to driving and parking safely near schools

The beginning and end of the school day are busy times for pedestrians and vehicles outside the school. That is why you need to take extra care in 40km/h school zones.

• Park safely and legally, even if it means walking further to the school gate. Parking signs are planned with children’s safety in mind.

• Slow down to 40km/h in the school zone and stay aware of crossings.

• Always park and turn legally around the school.

• Never double park as it puts children at risk.

• Manoeuvres such as U-turns and three-point turns are dangerous.

• Never park in a bus zone or in the school bus bay.

• Make sure your children use the Safety Door (rear footpath side door) to get in and out of the car.

• At a supervised crossing, observe the directions of the school crossing supervisor.

• Model safe and considerate behaviour for your child – they will learn from you.

Remember to always give way to pedestrians particularly when entering and leaving driveways. Do not park across the school driveway or the entrance to the school car park. It is always a good idea to use the drop off and pick up area suggested by your school. This will help keep all children as safe as possible during the busiest times of the school day. Foster Carers Needed

The NSW Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) is urgently looking for potential foster carers in the Illawarra, Shoalhaven and Southern NSW. We need people who can provide care anywhere from a few days to a few months and beyond for children and young people aged between 0-18 years old. We also need people who can care for siblings. Foster carers support families by caring for children who are unable to stay at home while their parents get help to change. Foster carers come from all walks of life and their families reflect the wider community we live in. They can be single, in a relationship and be with or without children of their own. Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islanders and people from culturally diverse backgrounds are also encouraged to apply. All carers receive training and ongoing support. There are numerous financial support packages available to foster carers to support the child through education, medical needs, food costs and other daily costs of living. By working together, we can give every child and young person a safe, loving and home in which they can thrive. If you are interested in making a difference in the life of a child, please call 4255 6666 or email our Foster Care Team: CFDU.ISSNSW@DCJ.NSW.GOV.AU
