Congratulations to Zachary D 5/6R, who recently represented Balmain Public School at the Multicultural Perspectives Public Speaking Competition's Regional Finals! Many parents came up to say how engaging and memorable his speech was. Zachary, we are all very proud of you and your achievement!

***COMPASS IS OUR MAIN FORM OF COMMUNICATING WITH YOU***In case of urgent/important communication, notifications via the Compass app on your phone will keep you informed***

To ensure you receive all communication via Compass, please have the app downloaded on your phone, with the notifications turned ON.

Although the school pushes out notifications via the app and email, there may be times when an important message may be missed as emails may sometimes not be checked regularly.

If there were to be an emergency, (hopefully not), information would be pushed out via Compass.

SPOTLIGHT ON...

1/2 PAPPARDELLE!!!!!

1/2P have had an action-packed term! We absolutely loved having our parents come in and help with our Investigations projects for Education Week. We have been enjoying setting up our Puppet Theatre, Oceans of Calm and Botanist spaces, with exciting new items contributed by our fabulous P&C. Thank you, P&C! This term in literacy, we have been writing factual texts and in numeracy we have been learning about equal groups. For Science Week, we were very excited to have Chrissie Tomarelli visit our classroom to talk about medical science - we were very excited to touch the bones! Goal setting interviews have been a joyful time for Ms Parsons and Ms Davis, as we reflect on progress with our students. We are incredibly impressed with the progress of EVERY STUDENT in reading! Well done, 1/2P!

5/6 EGG NOODLES!!!!!

This anthology of mystery stories was written by the students of 5/6E in Term 2 2023. Students voted for the genre of the ‘mystery story’ as a thread to connect their stories and ideas throughout book. Students were free to write as much or as little as they wanted to, and were encouraged to write any sort of mystery story that they could imagine. A wide range of topics and ideas are explored across the 18 stories of this book. I was pleased to see such creativity and imagination from everyone that participated. I found it interesting that many students chose to focus on a mystery surrounding the class of 5/6E. It was wonderful to see how students characterised each other and explored ideas of friendship and horror in a context so close to home. Although I remain uncertain as to whether I should be flattered by portrayal of the repeating character of ‘Mr Elix’ in many of these stories, I’ll leave that up to the reader. I hope students have been able to experience the joy of writing through the creation of this book and that they continue to explore, create, and imagine as they progress along their educational journey. - Gus Lauder Elix
