December 2025, Term 4 Week 8

A Message from the Principal

What a wonderful week we've had at Plattsburg! It was truly special to see our community out in force for Christmas in the Gully last week. The turnout was incredible, and it was heart-warming to see so many families coming together to celebrate. We sincerely appreciate everyone’s attendance and support, it made the evening one to remember.

As we move into another busy week, our focus turns to our Year 6 students as they prepare for their celebrations on Thursday. This is a significant milestone for our senior students, and we are very much looking forward to working with them to ensure they enjoy a memorable day. A big thank you to Mrs Bull for coordinating this important event with such care and attention.

I would also like to acknowledge the outstanding efforts of our Student Representative Council this term. Our SRC has shown exceptional leadership and commitment, successfully raising $250 for new sporting equipment. Thanks to their initiative, our first delivery of new soccer balls and netballs have arrived. We are still waiting on the remaining soccer balls, footballs, and a few extra basketballs.

Miss Chrystie will be labelling all equipment with “PPS” so it is easily identifiable. Once this is completed, everything will be placed in the sport shed for classes to use during sport activities. I am incredibly proud of our SRC and the positive impact they are making across our school. A special thank you to Miss Chrystie for her guidance and coordination.

As we enter the final two weeks of the school year, please continue to stay up to date with all school communication. As always, if you need any clarification, please don’t hesitate to contact the school office.

Regards,

Dave Hopson

Relieving Principal

Student Representative Council

Our Student Representative Council (SRC) has done an outstanding job this term. They successfully raised $250 to purchase new sporting equipment, and we were excited to see some of it arrive yesterday. Each SRC member worked incredibly hard to organise and run our fundraisers, and their dedication has truly paid off. I am so proud of their teamwork, leadership, and commitment to improving our school. Well done to our SRC! – Miss Chrystie

Stage 3 Well Being Groups

Our Stage 3 wellbeing groups had an awesome time taking on the Egg Drop Challenge! Students worked together to design protective structures, shared positive and constructive feedback, and encouraged each other every step of the way. It was fantastic to see so much teamwork, creativity, and resilience on display—and only a handful of eggs cracked in the process! 🥚

Stage 3 Science Lesson

Stage 3 have been investigating air resistance with Mrs Bull during science lessons. Some parachutes were great designs - even holding up in the strong winds! Well done

K/1C & KB Callaghan Wallsend Campus Library Visit

K/1C and KB had an absolutely wonderful morning visiting the Callaghan College Wallsend Campus library! 📚✨

Our students had a ball listening to stories, meeting the lovely Year 8 leaders, and exploring the school on a mini tour. We even popped into a science lab and watched a PE lesson in action in the hall! To top it all off, the children made a special Christmas craft to take home 🎄

A huge thank you to Callaghan College Wallsend Campus for welcoming us so warmly. We truly appreciated your generosity, time, and the positive experiences you provided our students.

This visit is a fantastic way to continue strengthening our community partnership and pathways with CCWC, and we look forward to many more opportunities to learn and grow together.
