Principal's Message - Kim Fraser & Luke Johnson

Congratulations to the 47 girls from Years 3–6 who participated in the 2025 West Coast Fever Interschool Netball Competition. The students displayed outstanding CPS expectations, incredible sportsmanship, enjoyed a few wins along the way, and had a super fun time! A massive thank you to all the volunteers who supported the girls—you truly reflect the spirit and values of our CPS school culture.

We’ve been working closely with the P&C since last year on a project to extend the undercover area near the basketball courts. The current slope in this space makes it difficult to create a flat surface for parents to stand or sit during school events. By levelling the area, we’ll also create a more comfortable spot for students to sit and enjoy their lunch.

This extension will be a great benefit to the whole school community. We've been collaborating with the Department and Programmed to design a structure that meets our needs. The final plan includes a tiered limestone seating wall along the edge of the basketball court, with a flat area extending from the top of the undercover area.

The new seating will be especially useful for Physical Education classes and for watching basketball or netball games. We’ve also had lighting installed so the space can be used safely in the evenings.

We’ll continue to keep the community updated as the project progresses. A very big thank you to the P&C for their ongoing support of school-wide initiatives like this one—it’s truly appreciated!

On Wednesday, we gathered for the 2025 Cross Country Carnival and were very fortunate to have the weather behave, providing a great backdrop for our students striving for excellence on the circuit! It was truly commendable to see them apply the school values throughout a very challenging experience. The team spirit was high across all factions (and parents), with students encouraged to achieve their personal bests. Congratulations to all for their efforts—particularly those who managed to pick up a placing. We know how much work it takes to get there. And of course, congratulations to Cowan for their continued dominance in our sporting events!

Thank you to everyone who supported the day—the atmosphere was fantastic. We know that events like these don’t happen without a lot of hard work from our teachers. Thank you, Mr Marshall, for all of your organisation and, more importantly, your ongoing and vital support of our CPS students.

On Monday, we sent out an invitation to participate in our Communications Survey. We really value and appreciate the thoughts of our community in shaping school directions, and this is another important opportunity to have your say. If you have time, please share your thoughts on our current and potential future communication avenues.

Finally, a reminder that tomorrow (Friday 30/5) is a pupil-free day. Our teaching staff will be participating in targeted professional learning to ensure we continue to meet the needs of our students and community. That, of course, means an extra-long weekend for our families—so please enjoy the time and stay safe if you're travelling!
