Dear Parents and Friends of St Anne’s
In 2021, Pope Francis declared World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly, to take place annually on the fourth Sunday of July, neighboring the memorial of Sts. Joachim and Anne, the grandparents of Jesus. This was an appropriate call made by Pope Francis. I wonder if he got the idea for it from St Anne’s, Kew East, as we have been celebrating Grandparents Day on July 26 (the feast day of St Anne and St Joachim) for decades! I am looking forward to a great day this Wednesday as we celebrate St Anne, St Joachim and our grandparents, beginning with mass at 9:30am. Speaking of mass, our Year 4 students have been busily preparing for Eucharist on July 29. Please keep our Eucharist candidates in your prayers. Finally, next week Netitia Postans is taking long service leave. Consequently our next newsletter will be produced on Friday August 4.
NAPLAN
During the week we received our Year 3 and 5 Naplan 2023 results. Once again the school has achieved outstanding results.
I will elaborate further in the next newsletter.
PARENT-TEACHER- STUDENT EXCHANGES
I hope that parents found these exchanges beneficial. Many thanks to the teachers for facilitating these conferences.
ITALIAN DAY
Students really enjoyed the Italian Day held last Wednesday. They participated in traditional Italian games, art, dance, pizza making and biscuit decorating. The children also enjoyed the afternoon performance…. Thanks to the staff for their input on the day. Special thanks to Antonella Liberale and Lisa Redmond for their thorough organisation of the day.
ATHLETICS
We held our athletics trials last Tuesday. The weather certainly challenged us but we completed all of our events. We will now use the data from the trials to formulate a team for the North Balwyn District Athletics Carnival, set down for September 4.
