From the Deputy Principal (STM)

Welcome back to a new term.

Over the school holiday period, our year 8 and 10 students participated in lessons for National Examination preparation. Congratulations to both cohorts for their dedication to this program. By all accounts this was most valuable for all students, and we look forward to seeing the benefits of these lessons when they sit their exams next term. These lessons will continue every Saturday through the term as per last term.

At the end of last term, we completed our Work Ready Program with the new Electrical Apprentices. These apprentices have now commenced working in the different departments. We wish them all the best and look forward to hearing their success over the coming years. On Monday 31 July, we will welcome our next Work Ready Program. We look forward to working with this cohort as they undertake training to develop skills to seek and retain employment.

On Wednesday 5 July, our Grade 11 and 12 students from the LSS Academic Support students and our Scholarship Students from OLSH International School Kavieng, attended a workshop with Sebulon Ragi, Clarisa Mondu and some of the participants of the Graduate Development Program. This workshop provided an opportunity for the Graduate Development candidates to share their experiences and discuss post schooling opportunities for these students through support via the Tertiary Scholarship Program. This can further lead into Industrial Training and the Graduate Development Program.

Our FODE students continue to work hard as they prepare for the end of year exams.

Finally, we are again preparing for our DWU Lecturers to come to site to deliver the Bachelor of Primary Education Upgrade during the September school holidays. During this time, we will also commence the first semester delivery of the Master of Educational Leadership for a number of teachers from LSS and STM/LIS.

Regards,

Mr Kevin Collins
