Reflection

Prayer for the Poor and Needy

Dear God,

You came to give honour to the least, those forgotten, overlooked, and misjudged.

You came to give first place to the last, those left behind, misunderstood and undervalued.

You came to give a warm welcome to the lost.

Help us to be your ears to listen to their cries.

Help us to be your voice speaking out love and acceptance.

Help us to be your feet walking beside those in need.

Help us to be your hands to clothe, feed and shelter them.

You came for the least, the lost and last of this world.

Lord, hear our prayer.

Amen.

Dear Parents and Friends of St Anne’s

Welcome to term three! I hope that you all enjoyed some valuable “family time” over the break. The reflection I have provided above is most topical, given our involvement in the St Vincent de Paul Winter drive. Please scroll down to learn more about this appeal. Finally, we look forward to celebrating Italian Day this Wednesday, with students dressed up in “Italian gear.”

Parent-teacher-student exchanges will be held on Thursday July 20 from 1:30pm until 6:30pm. Students will be dismissed at 1pm on July 20. Parent/Student Teacher conference

Italian Day

ITALIAN DAY  IS  COMING TO  ST. ANNE’S SOON

CHILDREN / ALL STAFF  PLEASE  DRESS UP : FAMOUS ITALIAN ICONS,      FOOD, FAMOUS PEOPLE,  ITALIAN SPORTS, SOCCER PLAYERS, ITALIAN CARS  ETC. ETC.

The students will be involved in fun activities on the day. Cooking, dancing, art classes and Italian games. They will sing some Italian songs  and  show off  their wonderful costumes at the assembly in the morning.

There will also be a performance by a FANTASTICO MAGICIAN- LUIGI ZUCCHINI in the afternoon. I hope that parents and friends will join us on the day to celebrate ITALIAN DAY AT ST.ANNE’S in the morning.

  • The students are asked to bring an Italian lunch on the day.  You could also bring some Italian food/desserts to share with the class.

  •  We will be having   GELATO on the day.  The flavours are Chocolate and Lemon. I have already asked children for their preference. There are children who have advised me they cannot have Gelato-they will have an ICY POLE instead.

  • If there are parents who have a PIZZELLE MACHINE and would like to help make them at school(in the Italian room) so that we can share them with the students on the day -that would be great.. Grazie tanto  to  parents/nonna   who have  offered to help me make them on the day.

We are busily preparing for Grandparents Day in the library which is always a lovely occasion where students with their Grandma, Papa etc can share some time exploring our new books; and hopefully sponsoring a book or two which captures their imagination.  We are in need of some volunteers to assist with the sponsorship sales as this can be a hectic time.

If you can help out for an hour or so please fill in the volunteer sign up at the link provided in the main Grandparents Day notice or let me know - lredmond@sannkewe.catholic.edu.au.

ST VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY WINTER DRIVE

St Vincent de Paul Society are once again conducting their annual Winter Drive. St Anne’s School has been an enormous supporter of this drive for many decades. Vinnies are seeking donations of warm clothing, non-perishable foods and toiletries. These donations will be distributed locally and through the East Melbourne, Richmond and Fitzroy areas that comprise high-rise accommodation that house a significant number of refugees and others experiencing severe hardship. Boxes will be placed outside the classroom doors - I thank you for your support. The final day for donations is Friday 28 July.
