Important Diary Dates

From the Principal

We have almost made it to the end of term! As you will see from this edition there has been so much going on over the past few weeks and throughout the whole term. I'd like to congratulate and thank all of the staff and parents who have supported the events and initiatives that we have been able to provide your children with.

Have a great holiday break when it starts and we will welcome your child(ren) back on Monday 16th October.

Deputy Principal News

We have completed the Merit Selection process for the Deputy Principal role. Adele White's tenure ends at the end of this year so an application process needed to be undertaken. We will be able to announce the successful applicant very soon. Adele will not be continuing in the role and is also very excited to be taking a term of long service leave in Term 4. Consequently, next week is Adele's final week at NPS. Adele has been at NPS for 3 years and before that spend ??? years here as Deputy. She has worked tirelessly to support student learning and has a keen interest in working with our First Nations students and building staff and student knowledge of Aboriginal Histories and Cultures. We will be farewelling Adele at the Star of Success assembly on Thursday. Please come along and join us in thanking and farewelling Adele.

From the Deputy Principal

At the end of this term I am taking Long Service Leave until the end

of the year. I will take a short holiday and complete some

work around my house.

At the end of the year I farewell Nurootpa Primary, as I will be moving on to teach at John Hartley School in 2024.

I have thoroughly enjoyed working at Nuriootpa Primary school and appreciated working in such a supportive and caring school community.

It has been wonderful over the past 3 years supporting students, through the roles of Deputy Principal and teacher. On Fridays this year, I have taught English lessons in Ms McGorman’s class and English and Maths lessons in Mrs Stokoe’s/Frau Cooke’s. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with the R/1 students. I have also worked as the Aboriginal Education Teacher. A highlight was working with the students to organise the Reconciliation Week activity Day. We have also worked on creating cultural artworks, learning Kaurna language, and made an Acknowledgement of Country recording.

I will certainly miss NPS and would like to thank the school community for their support and good wishes.

SAPSASA success for Tyler

On Monday the 18th members of the Barossa and Light District Athletics team travelled to Adelaide to compete in the SAPSASA State Carnival. The team was selected using results from the Barossa and Light District Athletics Carnival held earlier this year at Lyndoch. Students who won their event were invited to compete against the rest of the state. This year Tyler Cabot was selected as part of the 100M 12 year old boys relay team after finishing 2nd overall in the 100M on District Athletics Day. Tyler and 3 other students from schools within the Barossa and Light District competed against others in the state and came away with the win. Congratulations

to Tyler and to the relay team for their fantastic effort. Hopefully we will see more of our students representing the district next year.
