Reflection

A Prayer Trust

O Christ Jesus,

When all is darkness

And we feel our weakness and helplessness,

Give us the sense of Your presence,

Your love, and Your strength.

Help us to have perfect trust

In your protecting love

And strengthening power,

So that nothing may frighten

Or worry us, for,

Living close to you,

We shall see your hand,

Your purpose,

Your will through all things.

Saint Ignatius of Loyola

An Important message from Greg and Marwin Austerberry

Good Morning St Anne's Community

I'm writing to let you know that I have decided to retire once I finish my long service leave on January 26. It has been an honour leading such a wonderful school. St Anne's is a place where people care for each other. I've witnessed this on a daily basis over the last ten years in my interactions with staff, students and families. We have experienced many joyful moments together, along with some tough challenges. However the highs smash the lows. St Anne's is in great shape. Keep doing what you are doing because it works! In conclusion, thank you all for your unwavering support and kindness.

Kind regards

Greg James

Principal

Dear St Anne’s Community,

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Mr Greg James for his service to Catholic Education over the past 42 years.

Catholic Education has a strong tradition in the church of Melbourne. Mr James’s contribution to that tradition through his service to the Ministry of Teaching is greatly acknowledged and appreciated.

Although he has worked in four schools across Melbourne, I would like to particularly commend him for his work at St Anne’s School, Kew East. He has brought a wealth of knowledge in teaching and leadership and enormous generosity in supporting the St Anne’s community. His commitment, compassion and dedication has been highly valued by staff, students and families alike.

Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) will shortly commence the Principal Appointment process which will be facilitated by the Senior Manager School Leadership from the Eastern Region of MACS.

I wish Mr James every blessing for the future as he embarks on his well-earned retirement.

Kind regards,

Marwin Austerberry

Dee's Message

Wishing Greg a Happy Retirement

On behalf of all the staff, we extend our warmest wishes to Greg as he embarks on a well-deserved retirement. Greg’s unwavering care and compassion—for both the children their families and staff—has always been at the heart of everything he has done. His presence, leadership, and kindness will be deeply missed, but his legacy will continue to inspire us all.

Thank you, Greg, and enjoy this next chapter!

Early Term 4 we will have details of a retirement send off for Greg for both the Students and families.

As we come to the end of this 9 - week term, it's a great time to reflect on all the wonderful learning and experiences we've shared. Traditionally the coldest and wettest term of the year, it hasn't stopped us from achieving so much together.

We kicked things off with a full church for Grandparents Day, followed by parent-teacher interviews, a successful pie drive and a classic Bunnings sausage sizzle. Our students showcased their talents in the Australian Maths Competition, the Jess Wilson Speech Competition, the Year 5 Speech Competition and 65 students completed the Premiers Reading Challenge.

There’s been no shortage of fun and enrichment, with an exciting excursion to Scienceworks, a colourful Book Week dress-up day, District Athletics and an interschool sport catch-up day. We held our annual Father's Day Stall and launched the First Lego League, inspiring creativity and teamwork. We also welcomed the local Kindergarten children in for a morning of “school experience.”

To top it all off, we embraced the Olympic spirit with fun sports afternoons and celebrated all things science during our Science Day.

It’s been a busy, rewarding, and memorable term — and we couldn’t be prouder of our students and community. Thank you for your continued support and involvement!

Behind the Scenes

While students have been busy learning and growing this term, a lot has also been happening behind the scenes to make our school safer, brighter, and even more welcoming.

Over the upcoming school holidays, several classrooms will be freshly painted and fitted with new carpet. This is part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining a positive and inspiring learning environment for all.

A huge thank you to our dedicated staff for their patience and flexibility during the "chaos" of packing up classrooms at the end of the day. We’re also very grateful to the parents who generously gave their time to help move furniture and clean walls this week — your support makes a real difference! We are looking for some assistance on Sunday 5th October 2-4pm for an indoor working Bee to get all of the furniture back into the classrooms ready for school on Monday. If you can help please call the school office today or email me over the holidays dmcdonnell@sannkewe.catholic.edu.au thanks.

We’re all looking forward to returning for the final term of the year to a fresh, updated school we can all be proud of.

As we wrap up another busy and rewarding term, I would like to sincerely thank all of our staff for their ongoing support, dedication, and hard work. I would particularly like to mention Mrs Lett who has been teaching the Year 5/6 class this term while Tara has been on long service leave. Mrs Lett has been an asset to the school and we are grateful for her experienced and calm manner. We hope to have Mrs Lett continue her involvement with St Annes in the future in some capacity.

I’d like to acknowledge and sincerely thank Paul and all of the hard working members of our Parents and Friends (P&F) Committee. Throughout the term, they have worked tirelessly not only raising valuable funds to support our refurbishment project, but also creating fun and memorable experiences for our students, such as the recent movie night and Fathers day stall.

We’re also excited to share that the P&F have organised a school disco for Term 4—an event we know the students will be absolutely thrilled about!

Thank you again to Paul and the entire committee for your energy, commitment, and continued support of our school community.

Finally I wish all our families a safe, happy, and restful holiday break. I look forward to welcoming everyone back to school on Monday, 6th October for the start of our final term of the year!

English Tuition

Hi everyone!
I've recently started a business providing private English as a Second Language tuition to adults in the Boroondara area. I'd be enormously grateful if you could please pass on my details to any friends, neighbours or family who might be interested in having some English lessons. My credentials include a Masters in Education and graduate qualifications in TESOL, and I currently work part time as an English teacher at Holmesglen TAFE. My rates are competitive and I'm happy to work with people at any level, including teenagers - one of my students is in Year 9 at a local school.

My number is 0409 117 779.
