Semi-Finals - 14 November 2025

To Be Advised

From the Chaplain

Dear School Community,

We’re already almost halfway through Term 4.  How quickly the weeks are flying by! Its been lovely seeing students settling back into routines and showing kindness and enthusiasm in their learning and friendships.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve continued running our Social Skills and Resilience Groups, helping students explore how to manage big feelings, solve problems calmly, and build confidence in themselves. Its been so encouraging to see their willingness to grow and support each other. Our lunchtime program, Rockets, has also been full of fun, creativity, and laughter, it was a wonderful space for children to play, connect, and feel included.

As we move through the weeks ahead, our focus will be on gratitude and kindness, taking time to notice the good around us and to express appreciation for others. Sometimes the smallest gestures such as a smile, a kind word, or helping hand can make a big difference in someone’s day and remind them they belong. Maybe this week, you could try a simple family challenge: at dinner or bedtime, share one thing you’re thankful for and one way you showed kindness that day.

My door is always open. If you or your child would like someone to talk to, need emotional, mental, or spiritual support, or simply a quiet space to reflect, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I am available for conversations on Monday and Tuesday mornings, and always happy to connect.

Wishing you a calm, thankful, and joy-filled Week.

Warmest regards,

Dawn Tan

School Chaplain

Band News

Ready to join Junior Band 2025?

Here are a few frequently asked questions about Junior Band that you can talk to your child about:

Who can join Junior band?

  • All students currently in Years 2-5 are welcome to join the Junior Band in 2026.
  • If you are new to the school and have previously played in a school band, please contact bandwhps@gmail.com

Where can I see what rehearsals are like?

You can see the different bands at our Music Mornings and speak to band committee members in the school hall on:

  • Thursday 6th November 8:30am (performance band)
  • Friday 7th November 8:45am (junior band).

How can my child learn more about being in band?

  • All current year 2 students will have the opportunity to try the instruments on offer during the day at school, on Monday 10th November. They will receive a form to take home on that day, which parents can then complete to register their interest in joining the band in 2026.
  • If your child is in year 3 to 5 this year and would like to try the instruments, please complete the expression of interest form. Year 3-5 students can attend the instrument trial only if this form is completed by Friday 7th November.

Need more information?

  • contact bandwhps@gmail.com
  • watch previous performances by our school bands on our Facebook page WHPS Band.

We look forward to meeting you or your child at one of the above events!
