Principal's Report

Tuesday 16th May 2023

Hello Everyone,

What a lovely afternoon tea we had on Friday to celebrate the Mums in our school. Thank you for coming and thank you so much to the organisers. I hope that you all had a special day on Sunday.

Today we celebrated Education Support Staff Day. We have 5 ESS in our school and each one of them is so valuable to our school operations. We are very grateful to have them as a loved part of our staff.

This Friday our Grades 2 and 3 students are heading to Kyneton for an excursion. They will be learning all about a modern orchestra. Thanks to Shaun Evans from Macedon Ranges Music who has organised this event for us.

Neon Disco is on this Friday night.  Most of the children love this event. Wrist bands for those children who have paid will be handed out this Thursday. Please jump on to QKR and book your child in if you haven’t already done so.

It’s been a busy couple of weeks for our FOS team who have organised both the Mother’s Day and Neon Disco events. I’d like to welcome Blaise Howlett as our new president of FOS and thank Andrew Quinn for his role in leading this group over the last two years. I know that Andrew really cares about the school and worked hard to ensure successful FOS events. Thank you!

We have some COVID in the school, so please be vigilant about testing your children. We are sending home more RAT kits (we have so many here) in case you have run out.

This is my last newsletter for the rest of this term. Please feel free to contact Joe Flynn if you have any concerns or issues. It is hard for me to leave this school for such a long period of time. This is not because I worry about the school, I have the BEST staff, who will manage really well. It is way more about missing everyone. Take care, and see you next term.

Have a lovely week everyone.

Trish

MMPS Update by School Reporter Harriet

Hello everyone and welcome to week four of term two.

Swimming week one has come to an end and everyone is still recovering from the week's unusual time table. Mostly everyone is tired but there are some who are still thinking it's week two. Thank you to all  the teachers for getting us there on time.

The neon disco is on Friday night. There will be hot food and juice there as well as music being played by Dan Berger. The event is possibly the most looked forward to in the whole year.

On Friday last week the mothers got to go to the Mothers High Tea, there was tea, coffee and food. They all had a great time and came back very happy.

Have a great week everyone,

Harriet

Art Update

For their Inquiry the Grade 2/3's are currently learning about body systems. They were all asked to choose one body system, research and learn about how this body system relates to and integrates with other body systems, as well as the rest of the body as a whole. Some of the systems they investigated were the circulatory system, the respiratory system, digestive system and the nervous system. In art, they had created models of their body systems to help them visualize and understand how they work.  Have a look at their artistic depictions below, they look amazing. Great work guys!

District Football

Last Wednesday some of our grade 5/6 students participated in the District Football held in Gisborne. From all accounts, it was a great day and all the students had fun, played well and displayed some really great sportsmanship and footy skills. Well done everyone. Below are two accounts of the day written by our star football players.

Harry, Grade 5/6 : It was lots of fun. I hope the other players had fun as well. It was very wet and muddy. We played New Gisborne, Braemar and Riddells Creek. We caught the bus at Macedon Primary school to go Gisborne.

Andy, Grade 5/6 : I had lots of fun, and a good job to the players who played their first game. We didn't win, but still had lots of fun. We played in Gisborne. I saw some people from my footy team, the Macedon Cats.

What's happening in Music?

This week in Music the students have been learning all about rhythm. In their class today, they were having a lot of fun drumming to the beat of the song "The time of our life". They learnt all about how rhythm is music's pattern in time, and how it is the one major element in all music. Below are some photos of the students enjoying their music lesson.
