Week 2 Newsletter

Principals Address

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome back to Term 3!We’ve had a fantastic start to the term, with students diving into their learning and enjoying a range of exciting excursions. It’s wonderful to see their enthusiasm and engagement across all year levels. Here are a few important updates from St Mary’s:

CDFPay Now Live

We’ve officially launched CDFPay for all school orders, including the Canteen and Uniform Shop. The app has been working smoothly, and we’re thrilled with the positive feedback so far.If you need help setting up your account or placing an order, please don’t hesitate to contact the office — we’re here to help!

Merit Assembly Highlights

Yesterday, we held our first Merit Assembly for the term, and it was fantastic to see so many parents join us in celebrating our students’ achievements. A special congratulations to Oliver T, who received our very first St Mary’s Values Champion Award for consistently demonstrating our school values. This award will be presented monthly to a student who truly embodies what it means to be part of the St Mary’s community.

Upcoming Assessments

Next week:

  • Years 3 & 5 will complete their Religious Education Assessment
  • Years 3–6 will participate in the Australian Mathematics Competition

These assessments help us identify areas of strength and where we can further support student growth and development.

Attendance Matters

Last semester, our average student attendance was 88%, meaning each student missed around 11 days of school. Regular attendance is vital for learning and wellbeing. If your child is facing challenges with attendance, please reach out — we’re here to support you in any way we can.

The Importance of Sleep

Sleep plays a crucial role in your child’s health, learning, and emotional wellbeing. Children aged 6–12 years should aim for 9–11 hours of sleep per night, according to the Australian Government Department of Health. We’ve attached some helpful resources to this newsletter with tips and strategies to support healthy sleep habits. If you need further support, we can also recommend agencies that may be able to help.

Thank you for your continued support and for helping us make Term 3 such a positive start. We look forward to a term filled with learning, growth, and community spirit.

Kind regards,

Mr Michael Patrick

Fallen Tree

Before lunch today, a tree uprooted and fell onto one of our storage sheds. No one was near the tree when this occurred. The area is now roped off as we go through the process of getting the tree removed. We ask all parents and guardians to be aware of the roped off area and ensure that during drop off and pick up no one goes within the roped off area.

School Prayer & Acknowledgement of Country

We would like to acknowledge the Kaniyang people of the Noongar nation as the traditional owners of the land upon which St Mary’s stands. We thank them for the land we learn and play on and we pay our respects to elders past, present and emerging.
