The Brush Telegraph

Week 3 - Term 4, 2024

Message From The Principal

Dear Parents and Carers

WORLD TEACHER'S DAY

Last Friday was World Teacher's Day. We were spoilt with a delicious Mexican lunch provided by the Admin and SLSO staff. Staying with the theme ‘Hats off to teachers’ Thank you very much, it was delicious.

A big shout out to all the incredible teachers who help shape all our futures. There’s no doubt about it, all of us are fine products as a result of outstanding teaching and learning that we’ve experienced.

I want to thank you for everything that you do every day, every role that you play. Educator, mentor, counsellor, friend, sometimes even referee.

Happy World Teacher’s Day.

INTENSIVE SWIMMING

Intensive swimming for all year 2 students and targeted 3-6 non-swimmers will start next Monday 4 November. This will run for 2 weeks daily.

UNEXPLAINED ABSENCES

We are committed to working with you to offer support and remove any barriers that may be preventing your child from regularly attending school.

Please remember that the NSW Education Act requires that all student absences must be explained within 7 days of the first day of them being away from school.

So far this year we have 1248 absences unexplained!

Please contact us promptly whenever your child is absent and let us know the reason for them being away. This allows us to provide the right support and make sure your child's absences are recorded correctly.

In the event your child has repeated or ongoing unexplained absences, we will continue to try to contact you about each absence to provide appropriate support for you and your family.

We know that for our students every day of school matters.

Music is a more potent instrument than any other for education because rhythm and harmony find their way into the inward places of the soul. -Plato

Mrs Jacklin

NSWPSSA Championships

Wow! Last week, our whole school watched nervously on our classroom screens as Harlan prepared to race at the start line for the State 100m sprint. He was racing against the top 8 year old male runners across NSW.

At the sound of the start gun, Harlan sprinted down his lane with extreme focus and determination. He qualified for a semi final which means he is in the top 20 runners in the state of NSW. What an achievement!

His semi final run was just as impressive, but he missed out on a place for the final.

Well done Harlan. Be proud of such an achievement.

River Concert

Thank you to all the students who attended and performed at the River Concert on Friday night, and a special thanks to the parents and community members who came out to support them.

Our students made us incredibly proud, and it was fantastic to see our school represented. All funds raised from the event will go directly to the Australian Children’s Music Foundation (ACMF), helping them continue their valuable work with students in schools across our community.

Colour Run

Wingham Brush Public School P&C are holding their major fundraiser for the year- the School Fun Run’s Crazy Colour Day!

All we need you to do this week is create an online profile at funrun.com.au

Mark your calendars because on Thursday 21 November, our school grounds will be transformed into a canvas of colours. The event aims to promote health, wellness, and community spirit while having an absolute blast!

Swap It

SWAP IT is an evidence-based, healthy lunchbox program for primary schools. The program supports parents and carers to SWAP what is packed in their child’s lunchbox from sometimes foods to everyday foods.

The food children consume at school impacts their concentration, health and wellbeing. By improving lunchboxes, we can make a huge difference! The school lunchbox contains approximately one third of a child’s daily energy intake – a significant opportunity to improve nutrition and health outcomes.
