Term 4 - Week 9 (6th December, 2024)

Farewell 2024

Wednesday evening saw Father Philip celebrate a wonderful Graduation Mass for our leaving Year Six students followed by a magnificent Graduation Dinner in the Parish Hall. It was an emotional ending but one that was also filled with lots of laughter and good memories. We wish our graduating students the best. Please see below in our "Special Events" section for all our photos from the night.

Leaving Families

I would like to extend my thanks and best wishes to our leaving families, some who have been at St Mary’s since Pre Kindy. We thank you for your help over the years and for entrusting your children into our care over those years.

Pre-Kindy Concert

Special thanks to Mrs O’Malley, Ms Maiolo and Mrs Lane for preparing a wonderful Christmas Concert on Monday. The crowd was huge and witnessed not one, not two, but THREE songs. Don’t know how the teachers did it, but there wasn’t ONE face in the crowd that didn’t have a huge smile on the dial!

Reports - SEQTA Engage

The teachers have been busily preparing their students reports over the past month and a half and they will arrive in your email inbox today. If you have any issues please email Mr Hamersley on david.hamersley@cewa.edu.au

Final Assembly

Thank you to all those that joined us in the final assembly today and we extend a special thanks to all those parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and family friends who helped us here at St Mary’s during 2024. Thank you to our Tournament of the Minds group for putting on an entertaining and thoughtful production. What an interesting piece of family history Alena had to share with everyone!

We would like to extend our thanks to Miss Ferraro and Jasmin Holmes for all the fantastic work they have done at St Mary's over the years and wish them all the best in their new endeavors. Congratulations to Salvatorions Faction on winning the Faction Shieid for the most points overall for the year.   Special thanks to Mrs Riethmuller for preparing today’s assembly.

2025 Staff

We welcome Ellie Downsborough, an ex-student, back to St Mary’s School, as the Pre-Primary Teacher and wish her the best for 2025.

Term Planners

As we are still waiting for some dates to be confirmed for Staff Development Days in term one next year, our Term Planners will be uploaded to Audiri next week. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

2024 - Final word

A final thank you to you all, for the continued support you have shown us as staff members here at St Mary’s. We appreciate the obvious support you give us; it enables us to deliver a quality education to our students: your children. Have a safe, happy and Holy vacation break.

God Bless

Mr H

Viterra & St Mary’s School Merredin P&F

Viterra and the St. Mary’s Primary School Merredin P & F have agreed to a sponsorship program for the coming season and into the future. The Viterra Sponsorship Program commenced in 2010 as a way of helping WA grain growing communities. Since its inception, Viterra has donated over $1 million to WA grain growing sporting clubs & community groups. Viterra is very proud of what the program has achieved over this period. We are very pleased to be able to contribute to WA grain growing communities that support us, knowing that our sponsorship goes some way towards the viability of rural WA clubs and their communities – it also gives growers a sense that they too have assisted with their club’s finances. We appreciate any support you can offer Viterra by spreading the word amongst your members and the community.

Here is how it works:

Viterra will donate $0.20 per tonne to the St. Mary’s Primary School Merredin P & F for every tonne of grain delivered against contracts sold to Viterra.

At the time of contracting, the grower or their consultant MUST identify that they wish the contract to be a part of the sponsorship agreement with the St. Mary’s Primary School Merredin P & F. Every 12 months we will forward your club the funds accumulated against the contracts covered by the agreement.

For contract pricing of any grain, or if you wish to subscribe to the Viterra ‘sms’ or ‘email’ pricing service, contact Rob Haddrill, Tim Giumelli or Matt Stenhouse in the Viterra WA office.

Merredin Repertory Club Production - St Mary's Students Performing

The end of year pantomime is back at the Merredin Repertory Club and this time four students from St Mary's are involved (Greta Gethin, Kate Growden, Alena Madaffari and Hayley Growden).

For those unfamiliar with the pantomime style of production, it is an over the top, traditionally English comedy musical usually based on a well known nursery rhyme.  The main character is frequently known as the "Dame" but is often played by a male for heightened comedic effect. Audience involvement is encouraged with heroes to cheer for and a villain to boo and heckle.

It is mainly aimed at children but has a level of humour that also appeals to adults.

This year the offering is a western style panto called "A Little Panto on the Prairie" by Richard Lock. The premise is simple- Madame Moonshine's Saloon is in danger of closing for good because she owes money to the Evil Sheriff Cactus Jack.  Can local village idiot Tumbleweed, Windy Bottom town sweetheart Sandy and new kid on the block Buck the Cowboy save the saloon?  Punters are encouraged to dress in Western style to get into the mood.

See the poster for booking details.
