It's hard to believe that we're nearing the end of Term 2 already! Time has flown by, and we've had numerous significant events where students have had the opportunity to participate: from Sculptures by the School and the Keen2STEAM competition to Interschool sports, Edu Dance, and the CHUMPT show. And there's more to come... Our whole school NAIDOC week celebrations and Edu Dance Concerts are just around the corner.
Amidst all this excitement, we've been reviewing our health and wellbeing procedures here at CPS. It's a timely reminder of the importance of supporting our community through education in this area, ensuring the health and welfare of all our children.
As part of the Department's Student Health in Public School Procedures, we've implemented a whole school approach to promote student health. This approach involves educating students and providing healthy food and drinks (in the green and amber categories) at school. We encourage parents to continue supporting this initiative by supplying healthy options and limiting the intake of high-sugar 'sometimes' foods. Additionally, we discourage the regular delivery of takeaway fast food to school during lunchtimes.
Given the presence of several students with severe nut allergies, we are a nut-aware school and discourage any foods containing nuts from being brought to school. Students are educated about the importance of not sharing food to ensure the safety of their peers.
A reminder for all parents: when entering the school grounds throughout the day, please remember to sign in at the administration office. This helps us ensure our duty of care for all students while they're on school grounds.
As part of our commitment to student health and safety, we ask that parents inform the administration of any medications on school premises, even if your child self-administers. This ensures that we meet our duty of care requirements and can respond effectively to any medical situations that may arise.
We've noticed an increase in the presence of mobile phones and smartwatches at school, which are sometimes used during school hours. While we understand the need for parents to be contacted during the day, we kindly request that parents support The Department of Education's and our Mobile/Smartwatch Use Policy and procedures.
Finally, as we begin planning for 2025, we greatly appreciate parents informing via email if their child will not be attending CPS next year. This allows us to take this information into consideration during our planning process.
Thank you for your continued support and cooperation in ensuring the wellbeing and safety of all our students at CPS.
